Vermeulen and the underrated Suzukis surprised the bigger teams by running well on the pace at the recent test at Sepang in Malaysia.
Vermeulen will continue to trial his promising Suzuki at Phillip Island from tomorrow while Stoner will be running with his new Ducati outfit after his surprise switch from Honda last year.
Vermeulen ended the last day of the three day Sepang test in Malaysia as the 5th fastest rider on his Rizla Suzuki, but more importantly was extremely competitive during race simulation on the final day.

Chris Vermeulen (Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR) had to give best to teammate Karl Muggeridge in the 21-lap World Supersport Race at Imola but he nonetheless romped home in World Supersport Championship itself, winning the title with one race to go.
It is Vermeulen's first World Championship win, and the second successive riders' title for Honda to add to their manufacturers' crown this year.
With Muggeridge passing Vermeulen once more with four laps to go, the last lap saw the 21-year-old Aussie re-take compatriot Muggeridge on the descent to the first Rivazza, but he braked too deep, allowing Muggeridge enough space to pass on the inside and hold his advantage to the flag.

The team did their own development on the bike (in its first test they still used a road-bike clutch), but he won four races and briefly lead the championship before finishing 4th, as the only non-Ducati in the top 8.

Haga had other ideas, however, and grabbed the lead back from Vermeulen with three laps to go but had to settle for second place after a bold passing manoeuvre from the Winston rider on the penultimate lap.
Haga was all over Chris at times in that race but Chris managed to find something extra at the end for our first double of the season.

Those who have worked with him indicate Vermeulen is mature beyond his years (24 years of age) and, on the rare occasion where he rides a familiar track these days (the former World Supersport champ had ridden Laguna Seca previously), he can be expected to mix it up with the leaders.
