Wingert admits he was close to turning pro in the off-season.
Traditionally the Wingerts root against jockeys and horses vying for the Triple Crown at Belmont.
As far as technique, tactical awareness, competitiveness, ability in the air, ability to be well balanced, right foot or left foot, ability to jump to different positions, in that area he is probably the versatile and most comprehensive player.

Chris Wingert of St. John's University, and Catherine Reddick of the University of North Carolina have been awarded the 2003 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Award.
Chris Wingert led St. John's University to the NCAA Division I Championship match.
Wingert (5 goals, 5 assists) also was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Wingert mainly played as a central defender during his collegiate career, but a wealth of riches in the back for the Crew meant his playing time during his rookie year would come elsewhere.
Wingert started in the central midfield as Danny Szetela moved to the right flank, the position he predominantly plays with the U.S. under-20 national team.
Although Wingert moved to right back at the break, he may get a bulk of his playing time as a holding midfielder for the time being.

At the district’s meeting Wednesday, Water District Assistant Director Chris Wingert told the district Board of Directors that the rains provided enough water to supply drinking water to Odessa residents for at least the next full year.
Wingert told the board the water level of the E.V. Spence Reservoir 35 miles south of Colorado City, which supplies much of Odessa’s water, rose 12.7 feet as a result of the storms.
An added benefit is that the rain caused the level of hazardous chlorides in the Spence reservoir water supply to drop between 25 and 30 percent, he said.

Wingert won the ball in the midfield before playing in to Cunningham who swiftly dispatched the ball to Paule, who had found his way out to the right side of the box.
On 41 minutes, in a carbon copy of their earlier link-up, Wingert played the ball over the Chicago defense to Cunningham who picked it up on the edge of the box with only Ring to beat.
The striker failed to properly control the pass though and the ball trickled into the grateful arms of the keeper, who had advanced to the edge of his area.

Buddle, a New Rochelle native, plays forward for the Columbus Crew and is tied for 10th place in Major League Soccer scoring with eight goals and three assists.
Wingert is an All-American defender at St. John's, which ranked sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division 1 men's poll.
