Christa Randzio-Plath, Chair of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee - European Parliament, said she appreciated the dialogue within the Forum.
Christa Randzio-Plath said that this question would never be asked in the USA, where, the benefits achieved by a continental market were obvious, and which we should take as an example.
Astrid Lulling commented that Christa Randzio-Plath had been an excellent chair of EMAC, and wished, even though Mrs Randzio-Plath was not of the same party, that she was coming back to the next EP.

Ms Christa Randzio-Plath is the MEP responsible for marshalling the EU Parliament's response to the Commission proposals before they head towards the Council of Ministers for final decision.
An update from the Church of England VAT Group was sent out nationally in September to all incumbents after liaison with the Churches Main Committee and Brussels contacts, seeking letters putting pressure on EU officials and UK MEPs.
As a result of literally thousands of letters received by Ms Christa Randzio-Plath MEP, and others, the Church case has been noted in EU parliamentary debate and in the EMAC hearings which are informing the EU Parliamentary response to the Commission proposals.

A meeting between a delegation of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament and the Cypriot House Finance Committee ended with the former recommending that Cyprus wait until 2009 before joining the European Monetary Union (EMU).
Christa Randzio - Plath, arrived in Cyprus yesterday on a two-day visit.
Despite the reassurances given to Euro MPs by the members of the House Finance Committee that Cyprus would be ready to join the EMU soon, the European delegation recommended that Cyprus wait until 2008 or 2009 before joining.
