The Christian Reformed Church in North America is descended from the Dutch Reformed Church, which was the group of churches in the Netherlands which followed the ideas of John Calvin with regard to the correct interpretation of the Bible.
That movement in Europe was paralleled by a movement in the United States to seperate from the larger Reformed Church in America and form a new denomination, which became the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
The church continued to grow, such that in 1941 and 1942 another building program was begun, leading to a new church building being constructed in front of the old, much larger.
