William Robinson's Churches of Christ: Their Place in the Christian World.
Members of Churches of Christ in this country are represented in every business and profession and their representatives sat in the Geneva and Lausanne Conferences and in the Copec Conference, along with those of other Christian churches.
Again, Churches of Christ are quite orthodox in their beliefs and practices.
In the first place "Churches of Christ" accept the orthodox doctrines of the Fatherhood of God, the Deity and perfect Humanity of Jesus Christ, His redeeming work for mankind, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Christ came from heaven to reveal the truth to man. If a diversity of creeds could be found in His Church, this could only be because the truth He revealed had been lost in the quagmire of human error.

Encyclopedia of Religion in the South (Christian Churches and Churches of Christ)
As they see it, the Disciples of Christ wing has largely abandoned the Restorationist concern in favor of ecumenicity, which also was a major commitment of Campbell; however, it was to be "undenominational" rather than explicitly cooperative Christianity, especially in the earlier years of his career.
Thus the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ branch of the family is more "conservative" than "liberal"; it remains committed to the words of the Bible, bent on retaining local-church independence.
It is as firm in its conviction that we are "Christians only" (a slogan from the first generation of the movement) as it is in its rejection of "we are the only Christians." The fellowship honors the qualities of being firm, solid, uncompromising, and earnest.

The religious body known as the "Christian Churches and Churches of Christ" (also known as the "Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ" or "Christian Church/Churches of Christ", often abbreviated "CC/CC") is part of the Stone-Campbell/Restoration Movement that began in 1832.
The Christian Churches and Churches of Christ continues to be strongly associated with the Stone-Campbell movement as a whole, and with few exceptions its theology and practice matches that of other Stone-Campbell churches and groups.
The Christian Churches and Churches of Christ split from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination, although it is difficult to specify exactly when this split occurred, as it happened in stages over the course of many years, principally from 1926 to 1971.

Simply put, we are Christians only — the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ are autonomous churches that have fellowship with one another as a part of a "brotherhood." We have no denominational status, no hierarchy, no headquarters and no official voice.
Our churches became dissatisfied over the move towards an official organization of the Disciples; we also opposed open membership policies that were in effect in some churches.
As one can expect, churches using Christian Church are often confused with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); Churches of Christ are often confused with the non-instrumental churches of Christ which officially separated from the Disciples in 1906.

Christian Church Today - WHO ARE WE? Christian Church or Christian Churches
Posted - 07/19/2004 : 9:43:15 PM As a New Testament Christian and missionary-evangelist for the independent Christian Churches/ Churches of Christ, I am deeply troubled by Lerroy Lawson’s redefinition of “Who We Are”, as posted at http://www.christianchurchtoday.com/whoweare.asp.
This material was originally published in the Christian Standard back in 1993, I think, and was re-released again more recently in a special insert of the Christian Standard, called "What Kind of Church Is This?" -- the distribution of which is of course up to each congregation.
First he talks about "this Christian church" (the congregation from which the potential convert got the booklet) and then, in the next paragraph, refers to "Christian churches and churches of Christ" (as he makes a transition to the section about the early history of the Restoration Movement).

I thought this was a good introduction to the "Restoration" movement of the 19th century, and to (some of) the various churches that arose from of it.
However, in their defense, as the Churches of Christ are not a denomination per se lacking any overarching theology/creed to bind them together, your local CoC congregation may believe differently.
