The county is named for Colonel William Christian, a native of Augusta County, Virginia, and a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

Christian County was formed from a portion of Logan County by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1796 and organized on March l, 1797.

Christian County is part of the Pennyroyal region in southwest Kentucky.
The General Assembly organized the county in 1797, naming it in memory of Col. William Christian, a veteran of the American Revolution and Indian fighter.
In 1903, an archaeology dig in central Christian County revealed a prehistoric burying ground of a race of "giants." The skeletal remains of 150 bodies well over six feet tall were found among ancient pieces of pottery and flint weapons.

The county wasn't effected much by the Norman invasion of the twelfth century and it wasn't until the later 16th century that England gained a foothold in the county.
John Lynn was in Queen Anne County, Maryland in 1730 and in Augusta County, Virginia by 1746.
I have and article from the Hardin County paper about her death I also have a copy of an interview with Elizabeth where she tells where she was born, the year, about her brothers being in the war, About living on Cane Creek and how she loved to fish.

The first, Col. Clark, came to the county as early as 1803, and was long a Justice of the Peace and Sheriff.
The Kentucky Rifle of September 13, 1851, says of him: " He was one of the oldest citizens of this county, and was universally respected as one of the last of those noble old patriots who fought over the cradle of the young Republic, dealing the stalwart blows of freemen to the minions of royalty.
James Robinson, one of the earliest settlers of the county, served through the entire struggle for liberty, and came to Christian County in 1786.

In general, county tax records indicate Lewis Jones had 200 acres on Sinking Fork of Little River.  The exact location is not known, but is thought to be west or northwest of Hopkinsville.
6.  Samuel Bennett Jones, born 27 August 1821 at Christian County Kentucky and died 10 December 1906 at Skagit, Washington.  Samuel Bennett Jones married (1) Elizabeth Potter and (2) Martha Williams.   Samuel B. Jones + Martha Jane (or June) are recorded the 1850 U.S. Census of Scott County, Illinois and was a wagonmaker.
8.  Nancy C. Jones, born 19 November 1824 and died 31 December 1906 at Sinking Fork, Christian County, Kentucky and is buried at the Jeff Stewart Cemetery in Trigg County, Kentucky.  Nancy married on 6 February 1849 in Trigg County, Kentucky to John James Guthrie (born 27 December 1821).

Bartholomew was in Christian County March 21, 1797 when his son-in-law, Obadiah Roberts was granted a license to keep a public house when the first court held in the new county was convened.
Bartholomew appears again in Christian County history when "The next road (second one built) ordered by the court was in May (15th) 1798, and designated the "State Line near David Smith's" as the starting point, and was to run to the "Christian Court House".
Bartholomew died in May 12, 1828, and is buried at Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky in what is known as the Pioneer Graveyard.
