in 1839, the 53 year-old Prince Christian Frederik inherited the throne.
As Christian 8., he was able to place the crown on his own head at the last coronation in the history of Denmark.

Christian X of Denmark (Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm) (September 26, 1870 – April 20, 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to 1947 and of Iceland between 1918 and 1944.
Christian married Princess Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1898; she eventually became his Queen Consort.
In contrast to the monarchs of Norway and the Netherlands, who went into exile during the Nazi occupation of their countries, Christian X remained in his capital throughout the occupation of Denmark, being to the Danish people a visible symbol of the national cause.

Christian Frederik Hansen, known as C.F. Hansen (February 29, 1756-July 10, 1845), was the leading Danish architect between the late 1700s and the mid 1800s, and on account of his position at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi) the most powerful person in artistic circles for many years.
He was taken into Harsdorff’s private studio where he worked on the construction of Frederik V’s chapel at Roskilde Cathedral in 1780.
Instead he received economic support from Dowager Queen Juliane Marie and King Christian VII for a shorter tour, and he traveled out of the country starting in late 1782, travelling over Vienna and Venice to Rome, where he studied ancient Roman art.
