A Voice from the Christian Left
For many on the “Christian Right,” the “non-negotiable” moral issues in the election were reduced to abortion, gay marriage, and stem cell research.
As to gay marriage, a colleague of mine put it best when she pointed out that Christians disposed to oppose it most vocally were generally those whom it was least likely to affect in any direct way.
As a Christian teaching at a Christian college, wife of a Christian pastor, I am appalled at the irresponsibility, ignorance, and self-righteous posture of those on the “Christian Right” who support these atrocities.

Theological and Political Views of the Christian Left
As discussed earlier the Christian Left and the Christian Right are not greatly different in size depending in part on an arbitrary partition of Catholics in the country into the Christian Left and the Christian Right, a partition that is more difficult to make than is the case for Protestants.
To add to the lunacy of the Christian Left, the Bishops of the Church of England, seemingly oblivious to 1500 years of off and on Islamic jihad, and the horror and evil of Saddam Hussein’s regime have called on all Christian leaders in Great Britain to apologize to Muslims for the war.
Christian beliefs as stated in the Apostles and Nicene creeds and the Definition of Chalcedon of 451 AD simple cannot be proven empirically with the tools of science nor can the existence of God.

Why I Left Christian Science   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Christian Science ignores the Lord's own institution of His supper and instead substitutes a “spiritual breakfast.” The institution of the Lord's supper, as well as baptism we are expected to observe as obedient children bought by the Lord Jesus Christ.
Christian Science, inspired by the malicious spirit of Satan, seeks to rob you of your peace with God, cheating you out of your eternal welfare and happiness by suggesting that the only salvation is that you suffer for your sins and by your own works gain that salvation.
Christians he tests either because they are out of fellowship with God thereby stepping out of the straight and narrow way, or because of divine permission as with Job the servant of the Lord.

Christian Zionism, Left Behind and Rapture - Christian Education on the theology and politics
The struggle in challenging the impact of Christian Zionism through education is its entrenched and insidious nature, the complexity and complicity of its impact, and the cultural dynamic of religious and political polarization.
The key to challenging the impact of Christian Zionism, and in particular the relationship between the Holy Land and the United States, lies in intentional education.

Evangelical left - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Evangelical left is a term used to describe those who are part of the Christian evangelical movement in the USA but who generally function on the left wing of that movement, either politically or theologically, or both.
While the evangelical left movement is related to the better known Christian left, those who are part of the latter movement are not always viewed as evangelical.
Typically, members of the evangelical left affirm the primary tenets of evangelical theology, such as the doctrines of Incarnation, atonement, and resurrection, and also see the Bible as a primary authority for the Church.

Left Behind was released in the US on February 2 on 874 screens, and hit screens in Canada early March.
I decided to read the book Left Behind before viewing the movie, already knowing that when you have a series of books that have such an insight to detail and emotions, that the movie usually is unable to reflect this the same way to the viewer.
As a filmmaker and a Christian a year from graduating film school, this topic is of utmost importance to me and my verdict on what value the books and film have is still out.

BACKERS SEE "LEFT BEHIND" CHRISTIAN THRILLER AS CHANCE TO BREAK INTO THE CULTURAL MAINSTREAM
Most rapturists are "pre" or "mid" Tribulationists, but there are many Christians (including the so-called Reconstructionists) who believe that the faithful must hunker down during the seven years of the Anti-Christ's bloody reign, and then join the returned Messiah in settling accounts and ruling over Earth during the Millennium.
What renders "Left Behind" a leap ahead of these films, though, is what industry insiders refer to as "crossover." Cloud Ten Pictures spent $17.4 million on the LaHaye/Jenkins film adaptation, and aimed the plot at a core audience of religious believers as well as a secular audience hungry for spiritual themes.
Ironically, pre-millennialist Christians are the most energized religious-political group in the nation, and the certainty that rapture is just around the temporal corner puts little restraint on the urgency to convert as many Americans as possible into accepting the creed of Biblical literalism.

Among those who are mournful and angry about the outcome of this election, doubtful about the integrity of the process, and opposed to the neoconservative agenda are Christians who believe the name of Christ is being pressed into service to market a political agenda impossible to align with the ethics, mission, or character of Jesus.
Many thoughtful Christians recognize the moral complexity of these issues and the need for careful reflection on the contexts of biblical guidelines invoked in discussion of them.
