Christian IX of Denmark (April 8, 1818 – January 29, 1906) was King of Denmark from November 15, 1863 to January 29, 1906.
Prince Christian had been a foster "grandson" of the sonless royal couple Frederick VI and his queen consort Marie (Marie Sophie Frederikke of Hesse), thus familiar with the royal court and the traditions of the recent monarchs.
Christian died peacefully of old age at 87 in Copenhagen and was buried at Roskilde, Denmark.

Christian X of Denmark (Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm) (September 26, 1870 – April 20, 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to 1947 and of Iceland between 1918 and 1944.
In contrast to the monarchs of Norway and the Netherlands, who went into exile during the Nazi occupation of their countries, Christian X remained in his capital throughout the occupation of Denmark, being to the Danish people a visible symbol of the national cause.
Christian X was the tallest of all Danish kings who have been measured(1.99 m).

From from the relatively humble conditions at Glücksborg Castle, near Flensborg Fjord, Prince Christian came to Copenhagen where he ascended the throne after his predecessor, Frederik VII, had died childless.
Christian IX and his wife Queen Louise (1817 — 1898) made a huge impact on many other royal houses as four of their six children eventually found themselves on the thrones of Europe.
