Christian denomination - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christianity is comprised of four major divisions of Churches: Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox and Protestant.
Since Christianity is the largest religion in the world (making approximately one-third of the population), it is necessary to understand the various faith traditions in terms of commonalities and differences between tradition, theology, church government, doctrine, language, and so on.
Christian anarchists believe that the original teachings of Jesus were corrupted by Judaism and Roman Statism, and that earthly authority such as government, or indeed the established church, do not and should not have power over them.

The Chalcedon Foundation - Faith for All of Life
Christian denominations are the continuation of the ever-growing covenant community, the church of Jesus Christ, which originated - not in A.D. 33 - but with Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3.
These Christian denominations formed as believers matured in their faith and realized that they could not agree on every point of interpretation of the Bible.
Denominations are not to be looked upon as evil or divisive, for they enable Christians to worship with those of like confession, while maintaining their brotherhood with those of other confessions in the church of Christ universal.

I’m well aware that all of these Christian unity Bible scriptures, and especially the ones about brotherly love, are interpreted by many who call themselves Christians, and by quite a few who certainly are Christians, as *not* referring to any kind of unity with all believers in Christ, of all Christian denominations and groups.
Christian unity in love means loving with your life laid down all of those believers of all of those other Christian denominations and groups because they all believe in salvation to repentance, in holiness and brotherly love, by the same Jesus of the same word of God in which you and your group found Him.
But if the doctrine of Christian unity is right, then there are believers of *all* the different Christian denominations and groups that are correct in their doctrine by believing in Christ, and no single denomination or group of Christians can ever take credit for it, but Jesus alone gets all the glory.

The Advent Christian Church was formed in 1860 as an outgrowth of the Millerites.
It is a mistake to believe that followers of Christian Science ignore that which they consider "unreal"; rather, they seek to forsake and overcome error and evil through Christian discipleship, prayer, and progressive spiritual comprehension of the reality of God's allness and goodness and of humankind as God's likeness.
The tender word and Christian encouragement of an invalid, pitiful patience with his fears and the removal of them are better than hecatombs of gushing theories, stereotyped borrowed speeches and the doling of arguments, which are but so many parodies on legitimate Christian Science, aflame with divine Love.

What about the Various "Christian" Denominations?
Of course various denominations have done many wonderful humanitarian works which have no doubt brought many benefits to mankind, but this is not a test of the truthfulness of their respective teachings.
Those denominations which claim to have other ultimate authorities, such as teaching magisteriums, alleged "infallible" interpreters of Scripture, or other alleged sources of divine revelation have departed from the unique authority of Scripture and therefore, from my perspective, lack credibility.
Conversely, a member of a true Christian denomination may not bear the marks of a Christian, and therefore should not be regarded as a real believer.

The rise of denominations within the Christian faith can be traced back to the Protestant Reformation, the movement to “reform” the Roman Catholic church during the 16th century, out of which four major divisions or traditions of Protestantism would emerge: Lutheran, Reformed, Anabaptist, and Anglican.
This separation, though, does not lift the responsibility Christians have to love one another (1 John 4:11-12) and ultimately be united as one in Christ (John 17:21-22).
