Topic: Christian fascism

Fascism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fascism (in Italian, fascismo), capitalized, was the authoritarian political movement which ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943 under the leadership of Benito Mussolini.
Fascism, in many respects, is an ideology of negativism: anti- liberal, anti- socialist, anti- Communist, anti- democratic, anti- egalitarian, etc., and in some of its forms anti- religion.
Fascism and Communism are political systems that rose to prominence after World War I. Historians of the period between World War I and World War II such as E.H. Carr and Eric Hobsbawm point out that liberalism was under serious stress in this period and seemed to be a doomed philosophy.

Neofascism and religion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fascism’s essential syncretism meant that it was possible to find forms which overtly married ideology and religion - for example, in the Iron Guard, or among a limited number of Italian and German clerics (though most failed to see the radicalism at the core of fascism).
"Christian fascism" is a term used by some critics, primarily on the political left, to describe what they see as totalitarian fascist politics in the contemporary Christian right, primarily in the United States.
The term Christian fascism is generally used to desribe an emerging proto-fascism, and to warn that action is needed to stop the possible emergence of a theocratic fascist society.

Christian Conservatives and Religious Freedom by William L. Anderson
In fact, the "law and order" mentality of Christian conservatives (who appeal to Romans 13 to give near carte blanche to government law enforcement powers) is an important reason why the USA imprisons a quarter of the world’s prisoners (two million out of eight million).
Many Christians are taking note of increased harassment by state authorities, but more often than not their reaction is to appeal to an even stronger — and more centralized — government.
Yes, conservative Christians do not support the sexual agenda of the religious left, yet when it comes to private property rights and the growth of the authoritarian central state, it seems as though these two supposedly disparate groups are walking in near lockstep.

Fascism took its name from the Italian word ‘ fascio ’, meaning in a political context a ‘union’ or ‘front’ (the ancient Roman symbol of authority, the fasces, was initially not part of the movement's iconography).
Sturzo contrasted Fascism’s street violence with what he saw as conciliatory nature of core Christian values; he also feared that Fascism's goal was the destruction of all opposition, not just the left.
In the 1950s and 1960s, arguably the two most common theories saw fascism as a movement of the middle class in crisis, or as a movement which appealed to individuals suffering from anomie as a result of rapid change (mass society theory).

Fascism tells people that nature, not God, is their true creator and that they can, therefore, do whatever seems natural.
Fascism also tells people what the source of evil is: alienation from nature, a separation that is attributed to the Jews, who gave the world the monotheism of Genesis.
And finally, fascism says salvation comes by erasing all vestiges of transcendence, by destroying the Jews and their influence, and by emasculating Christianity.

The Christian Holocaust movement founds its kinetic potential upon the simple discovery of how language, culture, and social inculcation dictate individual human intellectual precepts, forming the filter which the individual uses to process the world.
Christianity believes heavily in that filter with its duty-centric justification-based system of moral logic and its karmic work ethic, the primary elements of control in society today.
Society has brought us many good things and the addiction of their continued expense; Christianity believes this is progress and conveniently denies the importance of death with its explanation of the afterlife.

The belief that Christianity provided the soil in which Fascism took root and received its nourishment, stems from a faulty view, both of Christianity and Fascism.

The proto-fascist Patriots represented the efforts of Christian fascism to mainstream itself, and their relative success, though fleeting, gave a surprising indication of the presence of a totalist mindset in America, particularly among conservative fundamentalists.
