Amazon.com: Pandora's Legions: Books: Christopher Anvil   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Christopher Anvil's short fiction written around the premise of an alien race luckless enough to "conquer" Earth (and finally collected here by Eric Flint), typifies the *Humanity Uber Alles* problem-solving science fiction beloved of John W. Campbell, who bought and published Anvil's stuff back in the '50s and '60s.
Though Anvil's *Pandora's Planet* is certainly dated, it offers an insight into the literary history of science fiction that only a damned fool could fail to recognize and value.
Anvil's writing style is not bad but it's also not great.

 Christopher Anvil
Christopher Anvil (1922) is a pseudonym used by author Harry C. Crosby.
Anvil's repeated appearances in Astounding/Analog were due in part to his ability to write to one of Campbell's preferred plots: alien opponents with superior firepower losing out to the superior intelligence or indomitable will of humans.
While it's questionable if the humans actually win in this one, probably the typical Anvil short story is "Pandora's Planet," which appeared first in Astounding Magazine in September 1956.
