 [No title]
The analytic approach, dominant in Anglo-American Plato scholarship, was explicitly represented in this colloquium by Christopher Rowe and by Christopher Gill, the latter responding to the hermeneutic approach of Hans-Georg Gadamer.
Both Rowe and Gill advocated a version of this approach which combined philosophical engagement with Plato’s arguments with attentiveness to the significance of the form of Plato’s writings (which has not been a characteristic feature of the analytic method).
Christopher Gill and Jean-Marie Narbonne considered the significance of some more recent thinkers for the interpretation of Plato's thinking on the good.

Gill argues that the key to understanding Greek thought of this type is to counteract the subjective and individualistic aspects of our own thinking about the person.
Christopher Gill...has now provided us with a sturdy and well-constructed broom with which to do so.
It is the strength of Gill's study that he does not argue at the level of theory alone, but discusses in detail any number of non-philosophical passages in ancient literature earlier than Plato and Aristotle (especially epic and tragedy) to see whether his hypothesis can stand."--The Literary Review

We know (but Brummell doesn't) that the murderer is Christopher Gill (Rod Steiger), a round-the-bend actor whose hatred for his mother has driven him to his killing spree.
Gill is fond of adopting a different personality and costume with each killing (a priest, a homosexual, a plumber etc.), making him doubly difficult to trace.
A curious by-product of No Way to Treat a Lady is the fact that Rod Steiger was cast in the lead in the 1976 biopic W.C. Fields and Me on the basis of the third-rate Fields imitation he offers to George Segal during one of his taunting phone calls.
