Christopher D. Hassall is a senior scientist for Olestra in regulatory and clinical development at the Procter and Gamble Company.
Hassall, I was wondering if you could speak a little bit about educating - what is it like interfacing the research private industry with that area.
I have talked to the faculty in pharmacology and toxicology about this, and they now try to predict three, four, five years in advance what the demand is going to be so that they don't bring too many students into the program if there will not be jobs available when these student graduate.

The BBC suggested Christopher Hassall as librettist and it was agreed with Alice Wimborne, who was Walton's patron (and mistress), that
Christopher Hassel, the librettist, died from a heart attack whilst running for a train to attend one of the revived performances.)
Christopher Hassall' s death meant that Walton had the freedom to change the libretto so he excised a further 30 minutes from the score and made a number of internal rearrangements, so that the opera in its final form lasts just over two hours.

SHOW BUSINESS WEEKLY: REVIEWS: David Gurland   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
The soundtrack has been released on Decca/Universal and warrants attention for the superlative treatment afforded six of Novello’s songs, five of which are beautifully sung by actor Jeremy Northam.
Surprisingly, to this day both Novello and his lyricist, Christopher Hassall, remain largely unknown in America, but perhaps Gosford Park will change that.
The film opens with a gorgeous solo-piano rendition of "Waltz of My Heart," played by Christopher Northam (Jeremy’s brother) that perfectly sets the stage for the lush, star-studded murder mystery to come.

The chief difficulty is to find a good libretto, and a librettist who isn't too parental about his text to alter passages when the composer feels the need.
I must say that Christopher Hassall, who's written the libretto of Tobias and the Angel for me, has been a perfect collaborator.
Sometimes he's written a beautiful verse, and I've asked him to change it because there's a word that doesn't set to music easily, or a thought that's too complicated to be sung; and he hasn't complained at all.
