  Christopher Wordsworth
Christopher Wordsworth (October 30, 1807 - March 20, 1885), English bishop and man of letters, youngest son of Christopher Wordsworth, Master of Trinity, was born in London, and was educated at Winchester and Trinity, Cambridge.
He went for a tour in Greece in 1832-1833, and published various works on its topography and archaeology, the most famous of which is "Wordsworth's" Greece (1839).
In 1836 he became Public Orator at Cambridge, and in the same year was appointed headmaster of Harrow, a post he resigned in 1844.

 Literary Encyclopedia: Wordsworth, William
Wordsworth's father (John Wordsworth) was law agent to Sir James Lowther (later Earl of Lonsdale), the richest and most powerful political magnate in the north-west.
Wordsworth's way of life, not least his sympathies with political radicalism, had alienated his guardian and at times exasperated his brother Richard who was attempting to manage the family affairs on a very low budget.
Though refusing to abandon his principles, Wordsworth was deeply hurt by these and other attacks which cast him in the role of a politically subversive poet perversely determined to work in doggerel where he could, using material that a cultured reader would immediately recognise as being of insufficient weight for serious poetry.

The 19th century pulpit, reading desk and altar rails were designed by Sir Gilbert Scott and presented to the church by the Bishop of Lincoln, Christopher Wordsworth, in memory of his marriage in this church to the sister of Sir Henry Bartle Frere of Twyford House.
It was here also, on 5 July 1884, that the same bishop preached his last sermon and unveiled the reredos, erected by public subscription to the memory of Rev F. Vander-Meulen who had died two years previous.
