Christos Antoniou Sartzetakis (born 6 April 1929 - Thessaloniki) is a Greek jurist and an elder statesman.
The score for the movie was composed by the famed Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.
After the Lambrakis prosecution was concluded, Sartzetakis left on an educational leave, with a state allowance, for Paris to study comparative law at the Faculté de Droit et des Sciences Économiques de Paris and Centre Universitaire des Études des Communautés Européennes.

The role of the prosecutor in the Kosta-Gavris film Z is based on Sartzetakis.
In 1965 Sartzetakis was sent with a state scholarship to Paris to study Comparative Law, but he is called back to Greece by the military dictatorship of 1967, dismissed from the judiciary and prosecuted and sentenced to prison for a year.

In 1985, the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) proposed Christos Sartzetakis for President of the Republic, and he was elected on 29 March 1985, succeeding Constantinos Karamanlis.
Christos Sartzetakis is an honorary member of the High Court of Portugal, an honorary Professor of the History and Ethnology Department of the Dimokrition University of Thrace, an honorary member of the Literary Society of Thessalonica and a member of scientific societies in Greece and abroad.
