Chrono Trigger is a beautiful, engrossing, and atmospheric RPG that even non-fans of the genre should play.
Chrono Trigger was always like that "mysterious little game everybody was raving about" to me. Even before I first got into RPG's back about six years ago, I always heard on message boards and websites about how great this game called Chrono Trigger was.
Chrono Trigger's characters move much more realistically, and because the battles are fought through the game's actual gameplay engine, enemies also move during battle rather than just standing still the way they do in FF3.

At the 1:17 mark, the theme peaks with a poignant rendition of the "Chrono Trigger" theme, which is altogether more subtle and atmospheric than the highly vivacious original theme.
The good thing is that these were only added specifically for the soundtrack's release to commemorate the start and end of each disc, and although bizaare, at least they have a purpose.
Nothing too new here, this is simply a rehash of the "Chrono Trigger" theme, a track played when our intrepid heroes try to take on the might of Lavos by crashing their beloved Epoch into it.

Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time, and certainly my favorite game for SNES.
In Chrono Trigger, you take the role of the young boy Chrono, who lives in the year 1000 AD.
Another thing basically unknown is the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, the experience of the Chrono Trigger series will never be complete without the original game and the soundtrack which costs about 2 dollars, I wouldn't highly recommend but I do recommend getting it, it is pretty descent.

For me, Chrono Trigger was interesting right from the very start, while FFVI only got interesting after the party gets separated when they're on that raft thing.
In Chrono Trigger you become Crono, and you could feel like you were more a part of the game.

Chrono Trigger is of much lighter tone than the many deep, gloomy pieces in FF6 - it has far less bass and isn't as low.
Uematsu's pieces on this soundtrack don't nearly compare to the depth and grandeur of his Final Fantasy work, but a couple are very well done ("Silent Light" and "People Who Threw Away the Will to Live" come to mind).

Disclaimer: Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time, and I think its music is absolutely amazing.
While all of the songs from "Chrono Trigger" are memorable and have stood the test of time, some of the more popular tracks were omitted.
For anyone looking for Chrono Trigger music with a bit more of a price consciousness in mind (aside from just "Buy whatever's available regardless of price"), hopefully this should help them be able to make a choice on that knowing what to expect from what they're buying.

The damage/status ratio in Chrono Trigger is a little unbalanced.
There are around thirty different endings in Chrono Trigger, all depending on, above all else, where you beat the final boss, and also whether or not you recruited the optional character, whether or not (BEGIN SPOILER) you revive the main character (END SPOILER), and whether or not you feed cats at the Millennial Fair.
Chrono Cross is a one of the many multi-disc masterpieces of 2000 for the PlayStation.

This Japanese composer - who also wrote the music for Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Xenosaga - is a master at using several styles of music to define his unique work: celtic, arabian, classical, neoclassical, and traditional japanese influences are all recognizable and expertly crafted into this work.
The Chrono Cross OST is divided into 3 discs entitled Cause, Unveiling, and Change: each building on the theme of temporal change and disturbance.
This soundtrack is amazing music, probably the best of this composer's work (I haven't heard the Xenogears soundtrack, so I can't say for sure), and even if you've never played the game, it would be worth twice the price to buy it.

Unlike previous Mitsuda soundtracks, this one is dominated by relaxing and even lazy pieces as opposed to more oppressive and action-oriented ones.
The thematic richness of Chrono Cross is of unequalled quality in video games, with the exception of Final Fantasy VI; one can’t help but hum the different melodies from time to time after hearing them.
Once you’ve got the soundtrack in your head, it’s hard to get it out, and I would recommend it to any fan of game music, with the warning that you may not care much for it at first, due to the lazy atmosphere that seems to be its primary standing point.

chrono cross was, to me, like a final fantasy sequel in that it really didn't have TOO many ties to the game before it.

One of them was an "official" soundtrack for Final Fantasy IV.
In terms of track selection, the album is almost entirely a replica of the "Chrono Trigger OST" released in 1999 for the PlayStation remake.
Don't be surprised by the fact that I'm extremely angry with them for their blatantly false advertisement.

After the two opening tracks the main game soundtrack begins with the magical "Bonds of Sea and Fire," which is mainly used in the game to show characters experiencing sadness as well as retaining a heroic determination, though it sounds like it could have been used to accompany a forest setting as well.
A marginally weaker area of the soundtrack is the main battle and boss themes.
Like "Battle with Magus" on the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, it is actually a surprisingly good battle track coming from Mitsuda, and manages to fit in the religious overtones through use of the Bulgarian choir once more alongside the use of drum beats, strings and the 'Sawtooth wave'.

The 3 disc Chrono Trigger CD set is the full soundtrack to the original Super Famicom/Super Nintendo version of the game.
The single disc version soundtrack is a sort of "Best of" collection including several re-mixed character themes taken from the Playstation re-release of the game.
Tokyopop will be releasing a domestic version of the single disc Chrono Trigger Playstation version soundtrack any day now, which AnimeNation is anticipating carrying.

The Chrono Trigger Prerelease archive was also mishandled, as the creators threw in a bunch of ambient tracks from the final game not found in the Prerelease ROM.
However, since the Chrono Compendium Chrono Trigger soundtrack was created from a blend of our own material and that of SNESMusic, we may have a problem (if the "Final Battle" thing happened to other tracks, that is).
This means that the Chrono Compendium is going to have to undertake its own comprehensive spc rip of Chrono Trigger.

The Final Fantasy IV soundtrack is 63 minutes long on 45 tracks, so each track is a little more than a minute long on average.
The Chrono Trigger soundtrack comes in longer at 73 minutes on 25 tracks (including a "bonus track" but considering that I can’t recall a previous soundtrack I don’t know what it is a bonus over), so the songs come out to a more standard length than the Final Fantasy IV soundtrack.
