Chrysler Neon engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was loosely based on the Chrysler K engine, sharing the same 87.5 mm bore.
The Neon engine itself is the loose basis for the Tritec engine.
The SRT-4 and PT Cruiser Turbo use the same engine block and heads The intake manifold, turbo plumbing, and intercooler are all different.

 Chrysler's Flathead Engine
Chrysler was so proud of its new engine that the front of the hood of the V8 equipped cars had a large chrome 'V' to identify the engine to all the world.
The valve-in-block engine displaced 189.8 cubic inches from a bore of 3 1/4" and a stroke of 4 1/8".
The engine used a redesigned water pump for better cooling efficiency, aluminum alloy pistons and had a new first as it was fitted with insert bearings on the main and connecting rod bearings, as well as the first camshaft bearing.

 Chrysler Neon 2.0L Engine Repair
When Chrysler introduced their new Neon models back in 1995 under the Dodge and Plymouth nameplates, they said they were launching a new generation of "fun-to-drive" entry-level cars that would appeal to a wide range of people.
On 1995-1999 engines with DOHC heads, there are two basic types: those made for Chrysler models with the intake ports on the front side of the head, and those made for engines that were used in the Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring Coupe, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eagle Talon, where the intake ports are in the back.
A spring-loaded tensioner is used in both engines to maintain tension on the belt, so once you've removed it you have to compress it in a vice and temporarily lock it in the compressed position with a 5/16 allen wrench or pin inserted through the body.

 Chrysler turbine engines and cars
Chrysler engineers installed the engine and mechanical gear such as the automatic transmission (rear wheel drive) and electric windows.
The fourth-generation 1961 engine had 130 horsepower (about the same as a current 2.0), with 20% of the parts of a piston engine, and the ability to run on just about any fuel: alcohol, cooking oil, kerosene, diesel, etc., with no warmup time needed.
Chrysler wrote: "The present performance and economy of the Turbine are comparable to a conventional car with a standard V-8 engine.

One, a 392 Chrysler Hemi built by John Beck and tuned by Eric Weinrich at Dyno-Motive, was topped by a two-lobe 6.71 Weiand blower with Hot Heads internals.
The power system on a standard (non-supercharged) engine uses the engine vacuum at the base of the carburetor to sense the load on the engine.
When a non-supercharged engine is under a light load the vacuum will vary between 9 to 18 inches of vacuum, but under acceleration or other high-speed/high-load driving conditions, the vacuum will drop below 7 inches of vacuum, causing the carburetor's power system to supply the richer air/fuel mixtures needed for maximum power.

Chrysler Hemi engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There were several companies other than Chrysler that used some form of hemi engine with varying degrees of success before WWII, and no doubt this available data proved to be a useful starting point when Chrysler engineers were contracted to design their own for the war effort.
This famous engine was sized for NASCAR (which mandated engines under 428 in/ 7.0 L) with an oversquare 4.25 in (107.9 mm) bore and 3.75 in (95.2 mm) stroke like the Chrysler RB engine big-block.
This engines immediate domination led the series organizers to dramatically increase the minimum number of homologation engines that were required to be sold to the public in order for it to qualify as a "stock" part.

The 361, 383 and the 400 cubic inch engines are known as "B" engines.
Looking at the car from the front the engine ID number is located on a flat pad directly in front of the valley pan/intake closer to the driver side head.

Chrysler's view seems to be a cost-benefit ratio where it is cheaper to let these circumstances happen where a few people could become hurt or killed and Chrysler doesn't have to pay to redesign and replace all the defective parts.
Chrysler knew that latches appeared to be popping open even in low speed crashes and knew people were being killed, but covered up the problem even when it had a legal duty to disclose it so the company could keep its profits as high as possible.
Chrysler used political influences to avoid having to issue a recall, burned all videotapes and written reports of crash tests involving impacts like the one Sergio's family's minivan was involved in, purged all computer codes showing component failures in those tests and destroyed computer data.

 Chrysler's New 4.7L Engine
The Hemi, Chrysler's first V8, when introduced in 1951 at 331 inches, was anything but economical to manufacture: Complex head castings, four rocker shafts, etc. So the A engine-ers tried to keep some of the best features of the Hemi, but with pared down costs.
In this process, first used by Chrysler in the 2.0L SOHC Neon engine, the rods are produced and machined in one piece.
These are truck engines, after all: 0.443" lift on the intake, and 0.429" on the exhaust, duration is 244 degrees intake, 254 on the exhaust, partially compensating for the smallish exhaust valves.

The Hemi engine, made famous by muscle cars of the 1960s and 1970s, is now helping make DaimlerChrysler AG a notable exception to the gloom that has descended on Detroit.
The engine that became the Hemi actually got its start in 1996, two years before the merger of Chrysler Corp. and Daimler-Benz AG, and was initially envisioned mostly for use in pickups.
Chrysler hadn't planned to revive the Hemi name, which is a Chrysler trademark, but Mr.

 TIME.com: Chrysler's New Engine -- Mar. 29, 1954 -- Page 1
To solve both problems, Chrysler engineers devised a heat exchange that transfers heat from the exhaust gases to the incoming air.
As a result, says Chrysler, the new engine delivers as many horsepower-miles per gallon of gasoline as a standard automobile engine, and the exhaust gases are several hundred degrees cooler.
Chrysler was careful to point out that a lot of problems have to be solved before the family car is turbine-powered.

Such was the case recently at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan, where an all-new exhibit, Hemi Power: The Unbeatable Engine, was unveiled to industry VIPs, racing legends, and the automotive press.
While the exhibit (which was open to the general public through March 3, 2003) pays tribute to the legacy of the '51-'58 early Hemi and '64-'71 late Hemi and its modern crate-hatched offspring, the greater cause for celebration is what lies ahead.

The shape of the piston was carefully designed to minimize engine noise during cold startup and operation.
One side benefit of using the engine coolant to cool the turbo housing was a modest reduction in oil crankcase temperatures which allowed the elimination of a planned oil cooler saving money, weight and complexity.
One of the problems of turbo engines is it's need for overfueling at high engine loads as a means for controlling exhaust gas temperatures so as not to exceed the maximum allowed component spec of 1650F.
