Chrysler Corporation 's K Car initiative of the 1980s ranks as the most overt use of platform sharing in automotive history.
Chrysler advertised the K Cars as a group, using the term in publications, and even put badges on some cars with the letter "K".
The famed Chrysler minivans were also based on the K platform to a lesser extent.

 Chrysler Jet Car
The american company Chrysler was one of the first auto-makers to experiment with the gas-turbine engine as a method of powering regular road-going cars.
Their fate was sealed in the 1970's when the fuel crisis and stringent emission control standards made it impossible for the gas-turbine engine to compete with rapidly evolving traditional internal combustion designs.
Chrysler never did find a way to mass-produce the critical hot-section elements of the turbine engine at a reasonable cost either.

What he's talking about is the production launch on June 18 of Chrysler's LH cars, a series of three new four-door sedans built from a brand-new midsize platform and developed by a new team organization that brought together all of the corporation's disciplines under one umbrella.
It helped that Chrysler already was moving toward the new "cab-forward" design that ultimately would be adopted for LH as early as 1987 when it introduced a concept car called Portofino at the Frankfurt motor show.
Chrysler had always used a mechanical cable, but it was not very precise and was clanky to boot.

 J Body
The J body is a 2 door-only relative of the F and M bodies, all share the same general platform with the transverse torsion bar suspension, and with very little variations in drive train options.
There are only 2 wheel base dimensions for F, M, and J bodies, the 108.7” which is used on the F body 2 door cars and the 80-81 2 door Diplomat and LeBaron; all other F, M, or J cars, 2 or 4 door, have the 112.7” wheelbase.
BTW, If you are looking for a heavier rear axle and/or performance differential ratios for a J body, note that the Durango and newer Dakotas have almost the same track and used the 8.25” and 9.25” axles.

Dodge Daimler Chrysler Steering Engine Transmission Defects Quality Reliability Safety Problems
Chrysler's own engineers joked that "Chrysler had to duct tape the doors shut to protect their test equipment but didn't even have a latch adequate enough to keep people from falling out of the back of their minivans." Chrysler made a clear decision that 25-50 cents was more important than reasonable safety.
Chrysler knew that latches appeared to be popping open even in low speed crashes and knew people were being killed, but covered up the problem even when it had a legal duty to disclose it so the company could keep its profits as high as possible.
Chrysler used political influences to avoid having to issue a recall, burned all videotapes and written reports of crash tests involving impacts like the one Sergio's family's minivan was involved in, purged all computer codes showing component failures in those tests and destroyed computer data.

Proposed introduction of a new 'J' body for the Cordoba/Mirada line and styling efforts for a new luxury coupe were all taking place during Chrysler's darkest hours as a company.
Although the '81 Imperial shared it's platform with the Chrysler Cordoba and Dodge Mirada, very little of the top-side sheet metal was common between the cars.
Chrysler's consistent choice to put vital electronic components under the hood, where they were subject to extreme conditions, doubtlessly played a part in the lack of reliability.
