The base engine for the LX is the 190 hp 2.7-liter V6 found in the mid-size Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus.
It should be emphasized that the LX was designed, engineered, and developed in America, with minimal reliance on the Mercedes parts bin.
It is not a cost-constrained E-Class Mercedes with Chrysler or Dodge bodywork.

Chrysler at one time said they cannot do anything because they have not seen the problem happen and claim they have no idea what is causing Jeeps to suddenly shift from park to reverse on their own.
Chrysler knew that latches appeared to be popping open even in low speed crashes and knew people were being killed, but covered up the problem even when it had a legal duty to disclose it so the company could keep its profits as high as possible.
Chrysler used political influences to avoid having to issue a recall, burned all videotapes and written reports of crash tests involving impacts like the one Sergio's family's minivan was involved in, purged all computer codes showing component failures in those tests and destroyed computer data.

Chrysler is not meant to be going into the luxury market, according to Steve Bartoli (head of marketing and car planning), where it would compete with Mercedes - even though the LX looks like it will be better than the E-class.
Evolving the design seen on the current Chrysler 300M, a four-gauge instrument cluster with chrome rims and a precision appearance are used in the 300C.
The spaciousness of the Chrysler 300C is enhanced by the more upright windshield pillars and overall profile of the new exterior design, resulting in a seating position that is two-and-a-half inches higher than the current 300M.

The 300C is long, lean and menacing, bound to cause a stir among the domestics and worthy enough to pull import drivers away from their trusty, but often mundanely predictable mid and full-size rides.

The Imperial is a design exercise, so Chrysler is really eager to tell all who will listen that this sedan is "the new definition in luxury" and that it boasts "a classic coach-build profile in the roofline and silhouette".
For those of you not hip to Chrysler's platform codes, the LX platform forms the underpinnings of vehicles such as the Dodge Magnum, Charger and Chrysler 300C.
Moving on to the interior of the Imperial, Chrysler claims that every surface inside this luxury liner is wrapped in the finest materials known to man. The seats are covered in "supple leather and rich suede", the dash/armrests are covered in California burl wood and "metallic-like" bronze accents abound.

It's the third car, after the Crossfire and Pacifica, to bear the fruits of the Mercedes-Benz/Chrysler merger, and it's radically different from the François Castaing-era LH cars it replaces — to scratch the surface, this new LX platform is rear drive, and let's just say the cab-forward look is squarely in the rearview mirror.
