In 1928 Chrysler founded the Plymouth brand at the low end, the DeSoto brand at the low-medium end and purchased the Dodge Brothers automobile company; all of this was in order to set up a full range of brands similar to that of the General Motors corporation.
The logo was revived for the Chrysler division in the mid-1990s, and was surrounded by a pair of silver wings after the Daimler-Benz merger in 1998.
Then Chrysler head Lynn Townsend was looking for a symbol that could be used by all divisions, on packaging, stationery, signage, advertising, etc. He wanted something that would be universally recognizable as "Chrysler" to anyone who saw it, from any perspective, from any culture.

The first Australian-built Sigmas were released in October 1977 to replace the outgoing GD series Galant and were initially badged as Chryslers.
The mid-range model was the Sigma GL and came standard with the 'Astron' (1.85 L or 2.0 L) and 4-speed manual.
The Sigma GSR was also released, becoming the new sports version of the range with either 2.0 L or 2.6 L engines offered with either automatic or manual transmissions.

Chrysler cars came to Australia during the 1920's and, in 1935, 18 independent agents formed Chrysler-Dodge-De Soto Distributors (Australia) Pty Ltd. The distributors used their combined strength to purchase and market Plymouth, Dodge and De Soto vehicles.
Chrysler assembled 10,000 Valiants in 1962, lifting it's registration figures for the year by 146 percent, but the company still could not meet the demand.
Chrysler expanded once again, this time to manufacture the Sigma, a local version of Mitsubishi's Japanese Galant model.

The "CHRYSLER" block lettering on the hood appears to be that used on the hood of the domestic '66 Chryslers.
Possibly these are from the Australian Chrysler Royal (I was able to decipher a reference to 6.70x15 tires, as opposed to the 14" tires used on the domestic car).
