The Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) is the largest canid of South America, resembling a dog with reddish fur.
It is the only species in the genus Chrysocyon.
The Maned Wolf has often been described as "a Red Fox on stilts" The adult animal stands almost 1 m (3 ft) tall at the shoulder, and weighs 20 to 25 kg.

The same modified-live vaccine proved to be immunogenic and safe in 12 bush dogs (Speothos venaticus), 5 maned wolves (Chrysocyon brachyurus), and 3 fennec foxes (Fennecus zerda) in which virus-neutralization titers often exceeded 1:512 and persisted for several months after vaccination.
A litter of 6 maned wolves (Chrysocyon brachyurus) and a litter of 3 bush dogs were isolated from their parent colonies at 13 and 15 weeks of age, respectively.
