	Bayamón, Puerto Rico - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		It derives its name from a local Indian chief Bahamon; others claim that the name came from the Taíno word Bayamongo, which is the name of one of the rivers that cross the city.

		Chuíto de Bayamón has alleged that by virtue of having recorded popular music in 1926 with the Orquesta de Ralph Sánchez, he was the first singer heard on Puerto Rican radio, but it remains in dispute whether the first singer on Puerto Rican radio was Chuito de Bayamón or Chuito de Cayey (see next).

		There were two "Chuitos", Chuito de Bayamon and Chuito de Cayey.
		Chuito de Cayer was considered the best of the two but left very little information and records.

		My mother does recall visiting with Chuito as a young girl in San Juan, where he lived with his wife (Josefina?).
		She vividly remembers that he was well known for singing folksongs and guitar playing, and that he was "sponsored" by a rum manufacturer there on the island.
