		The centerpiece of that strategy was the Chukha hydroelectric generation project which, with a capacity of 325MW, was the first major attempt to begin harnessing Bhutan's estimated 16,000MW of economically exploitable hydroelectric potential.
		Chukha was commissioned in 1986 primarily for the export of power to India, but it also permitted a rapid increase in domestic electrification for both industrial and household use.
		No boost to the economy on the scale of Chukha is expected until the 1020 MW Tala hydroelectric project is commissioned in the middle of the next decade.

	Kuenselonline - Curbing rabies through vaccination
		Spurred by the recent outbreak of rabies in the eastern dzongkhags, Chukha has also begun a campaign to vaccinate and sterilise an estimated 4,000 dogs in the dzongkhag.
		The campaign for Chukha, which began on March 4 in Phuentsholing town vaccinated 317 dogs and sterilised 122 in three days.

		After another full day of heated debate on June 28 the National Assembly resolved that the Public Accounts Committee would verify the special audit report on the renovation of the Semtokha Dzong and the construction of a new Chukha Dzong and that the verification report would be submitted to His Majesty the King.

		Bhutanese troops have been put on maximum alert following reports that a new Indian militant group is operating from inside the tiny Himalayan kingdom, a report said on Sunday.
