 Roman Abramovich - MN-FILES - MOSNEWS.COM
Abramovich has mostly stayed out of politics—his gubernatorial post in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug around the Arctic circle (elected in 2000) is far too remote and impoverished to count.
As a result, unlike his former teachers and business partners, Abramovich is neither in exile nor in jail, although the parliamentary immunity he obtained when he won the Chukotka governor position certainly helps as well.
Abramovich never graduated from college and owes his success, instead, to his timely meeting with Boris Berezovsky, another Russian oligarch, and securing friendly relations with then-president Yeltsin’s family.
