Church Stretton is a town in South Shropshire, Shropshire, England.
Church Stretton was nicknamed "Little Switzerland" during its growth as a spa town in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, both because of its mountainous terrain, and because the town is run like clockwork.
Church Stretton is a major centre for the sport of archery.

The greatest increase of population was in the Edwardian period and was concentrated in Church Stretton town, always the largest settlement: the total population of the three new civil parishes grew from 1,749 in 1901 to 2,435 in 1911 and to 2,650 by 1921.
Stretton copyhold estates, though heritable, have not left notable or easily identifiable houses: standing in the principal settlements, they were liable to tenurial, as well as physical, separation from their lands and also to rebuilding.

Church Stretton is located 19km (12 miles) north of Ludlow, 20 km (12½ miles) south of Shrewsbury and 28 km (17 miles) west of Bridgnorth.
The large scale development of Church Stretton in the period 1880-1900 saw the erection of many large comfortable houses in which the influence of the late Victorian architect Norman Shaw is readily visible.
The church is dedicated to St.Laurence and dates from the late 11th or early 12th century although nearly all of the present building was extensively modified in the later 12th and early 13th centuries with further significant alterations in the 19th century.
