Thelemapedia: The Encyclopedia of Thelema & Magick | Wicca
This can be a reference to both the initiatory tradition, where initiates are assigned a degree and generally work in covens, and to Solitary Wicca, where practitioners self-dedicate themselves to the tradition and generally practice on their own.
Wicca has developed in several directions and institutional structures from the time it was brought to wider attention by Gerald Gardner.
Gardnerian Wicca was an initiatory mystery religion, admission to which was at least in theory limited to those who were initiated into a pre-existing coven.

Wicca - Free Encyclopedia of Thelema
Wicca is a popular Neopagan religion, originally founded by the British civil servant Gerald Gardner, probably in the 1940s, although it was first openly revealed in 1954.
The conventional wisdom is that the term wicca derives from "wicce" the Norse word meaning "wise one" referring to either male or female.
It is considered to be a learned skill, referring to the casting of spells and the practice of magic or magick (the use of the "k" is to separate the term from stage magic, and was coined as a spelling by Aleister Crowley on the basis that it has more kabbalic relevance).

 Wicca
Wicca, in all its incarnations, is probably one of the longest and most persecuted religions in history.
Perhaps another attractive aspect of Wicca is the opportunity for feminists to identify with the persecuted of Europe's Witch-hunt who were victims of the strongly patriarchical structure of Christianity (Neitz, 359).
Since its connection to Wicca, the feminist movement has then focused its purpose on stripping away all the dark connotations of the word "witch" and restore to it instead the old attachments of healing and female power (Neitz, 358).

The Church and School of Wicca was founded by Gavin Frost and Yvonne Frost in 1968.
The Church and School of Wicca has granted numourous charters to others, including John Todd, an evangelist who used a charter as a front to have sex with underaged girls in the 1970s.
On the school's reading list is the Good Witch's Bible, written by the Frosts, which supports pedophilia and incest and suggests Wiccan girls should be deflowered with help from a father figure.

The system of belief taught through the School of Wicca is therefore not necessarily up with the latest trendy thinking; instead it is tailored more to a timeless readership, with perhaps a heavier emphasis on simple magical procedures than on the religious aspects of the Craft.
