San Polo is the smallest of the six sestieri of Venice, covering just 86 acres (35 hectares) along the Grand Canal.
It is one of the oldest parts of the city, having been settled before the ninth century, when it and San Marco formed part of the Realtine Islands.
Attractions in San Polo include the Rialto Bridge, the Church of San Giacomo di Rialto (according to legend the oldest in the city), the Campo San Polo, the House of Goldoni, the Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, the Church of San Rocco and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco.

The Chiesa di San Rocco (Church of St Roch) in Venice was built between 1489 and 1508 by Bartolomeo Bon the Younger, but was substantially altered in 1725.
The neighbouring Scuola di San Rocco was founded in the 15th century as a confraternity to assist the citizens in time of plague.
St Roch, whose relics rest in the church, was declared a patron saint of the city in 1576 and every year, on his feast day (16 July), the Doge made a pilgrimage to the church.

San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore, province of Pescara, is located on a hilltop between the Orta and Lavino rivers at an elevation of 1400 feet, in the Maiella National Park.
The church, which was built from stone from the Maiella in the second half of the 18th century, was designed by the noted architect Luigi Vanvitelli, who designed the palace at Caserta near Naples.
To the left of the church are the remains of the surrounding wall of the castle and the tower built in the year 1000.
