St Luke's tower still retains its very important bell frame - this frame is the earliest example of the use of metal in bell frame manufacture; a technique that is universal today.
It is proposed, by the MBRG to make St Luke's a "ringing centre" where church bellringing can be taught in a purpose adapted space which will enable the second part of the Group's objects to be fulfilled.
The book chronicles the history of the site of St Luke’s, construction of the church, history of the bells themselves, and also the significance of the ‘first all-metal bell frame’ still in situ in the tower.

In some cases, the bell installation in a particular church or other building can be the most costly single item of fabric - they are very expensive to supply and install, and a lot of skill and expertise goes into the design, manufacture and installation of bells, bell frames and associated equipment.
The bell founders and bell engineers are ever mindful of this problem and are generally happy to work in association with other contractors and groups such as the MBRG where appropriate, in an attempt to reduce the cost of restoration.
