Hollywood Park Racetrack NEWS, INFORMATION AND RESOURCES
Churchill Downs Inc. is eliminating 18 positions at Hollywood Park, including four department heads, in anticipation of completing the Inglewood, Calif., racetrack's sale to Bay Meadows Land Co. The sale is scheduled to close Sept. 23.
The California Horse Racing Board on Thursday unanimously approved Churchill Downs Inc.’s sale of Hollywood Park to the Bay Meadows Land Co. Bay Meadows Land Co., which also owns Bay Meadows Race Course, needed the CHRB’s approval to hold a financial interest in more than one racetrack in the state.
The California Horse Racing Board put an important stamp of approval on the sale of Hollywood Park at its commission meeting Thursday at Del Mar by unanimously okaying the deal with the Bay Meadows' Land Company in accordance with state racing law.

Mid-Atlantic Tracks, Churchill Working on Rate Plans - bloodhorse.com
The contract dispute concerns simulcasts from all six Churchill Downs Inc. racetracks: Arlington Park, Calder Race Course, Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, Hollywood Park, and Hoosier Park.
The situation led Kentucky horsemen to block River Downs and Lebanon from taking Kentucky signals, but after a few years, the two Ohio tracks ended up taking the signals at a higher rate.
One year, River Downs and Lebanon paid a prohibitive 18% fee just to simulcast the Derby, and ended up losing money on the deal.

OmniNerd - News: Islam May Trump Secular Democracy
A few years ago, declassified Soviet intelligence revealed the Rosenbergs were indeed spies for the USSR, and that Alger Hiss (who was at Yalta with FDR when he and Churchill gave Eastern Europe to communist opression), on whose guilt Richard Nixon rode to political prominence, was also guilty as charged.
It turns out McCarthy was right about ol' Harry Dexter: the FBI found out two years after he died that the Soviets knew him as codename "Jurist." In 1997 a bipartisan government commission declared: "The complicity of Alger Hiss of the State Department seems settled.
Nobody was executed as a result of McCarthy's allegations, it only lasted a couple of years before he was discredited and ostracized, and real, actual communists were flushed out of the U.S. government or scared into staying in the closet.

Film Review: Churchill: The Hollywood Years
Jon Culshaw as "the Prime Minister," suddenly confronted with the Churchill conspiracy, is a joy to watch, as it's quite obvious to a British audience who he really is. The Brits are meant to see Tony Blair desperately trying to wriggle out of another trail of lies.
Alongside Culshaw's efforts to raise the standard, the only other notable performance comes from comedienne Sally Phillips, playing a comely waitress heavily embroiled in Churchill and Princess Elizabeth escaping on the Royal train.
He asks the audience to laugh at the same joke - the King doesn't know what planet he's on - throughout the entire film.
