Transcending the Mundane: Interview with Churn
Churn is an extreme metal meets hardcore band rising from the killer U.K. scene.
Churn oringanlly formed about ten years ago, only original member left is the vocalist, Rab.
Napalm Death certinly influenced our sound in the initial stages of the 1999 version of Churn, but it was Napalm's more recent output rather than their early stuff from say, Diatribes onwards, but we've always tried to do our own thing and not just copy what everyone else is doing, that's probably our one rule.

the scam: Prince - The Black Album
Fans were excited by the album's consistency and hoped that this marked a turning point for the little purple guy.
Before the album could be released officially, however, Prince recalled all copies and abandoned the entire project, leaving roughly one hundred promotional vinyl copies in circulation, copies that would be widely bootlegged in the coming years.
As recompense, the Lovesexy album was released not long after, an album that was supposedly diametrically opposed to the evil of the Black Album.

The Churn - Giving World Music The Beating It Deserves
THE CHURN is composed of Mitch Lawyer (4 and 5 string electric mandolin), Jim Mackenzie (6 and 12 string electric guitar), John Palmer (bass) and Scott Washburn (drums).
Taking their name quite literally, the members of the Churn have tossed quite a bit into Ye Olde Stir Pot and come out with a creamy product that can best be described as an electric instrumental psychedelic Celtic jam, equally perfect for your backyard St. Patrick's Day party or a 420 fund-raiser.
The Churn is a new side project of Flying Fish Sailor Mitch Lawyer (mandolin), with Jim Mackenzie on guitar, Jon Palmer on bass and ex-Zuzu's Petals pounder Scott Washburn on drums.

Although Barrett Jones is very talented (he produced this album as well), the album often becomes a sleeper.
I'll admit, Churn is very talented and composes great songs, but they need to add more interest and grab the listeners attention.

Chicago XXVI—The Live Album Popular Music and Society - Find Articles
An unofficial live album of the band in Toronto in 1969 has been floating around and repackaged again and again: terrible sound quality and lackluster performances make this an embarrassment.
They hired outside writers to pen most of their hits and the distinctive sounds of the horns were placed in the background (causing hurt feelings and rifts within the band, which ultimately led to Cetera's departure).
He has reformed the band and they are currently working on a new studio album and DVD release.) After years of session guitarists, Chicago finally found a player who fits perfectly.

Various Artists: The Blues White Album - PopMatters Music Review
Maria Muldaur's blasé rendition of "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da" is not only a highly questionable choice for a blues album, but also sounds like very little effort and feeling was put into the performance.
The song is slowed right down to a somber, elegiac pace, as Walker brings in some welcome emotion to both his vocals and his lead guitar playing.
After listening to the album, what you ultimately realize, ironically, is what a great blues band the Beatles really were at times.

Relegated to indie darling, he's had quite his issues with record labels, but still continued to churn out album after album of heartfelt and memorable songs that leave an indelible mark felt long after the record is finished playing through the speakers.

While it probably won't be remembered as his best album, The Black Album is his most personal to date and features some of his most compelling writing.
I was dissapointed with this album because its Jay-Z last album and this is how he's choosing to go out.
No disrespect to any of these guys cause they do their thing but as far as a last album for Jay z he needed pain in da a$$ doing the intro and outro, Dj Premier, and maybe even a ending to the coming of age story with him and Memphis Bleek.

 Pacifier / Shihad Albums & Lyrics @ SongLyricsLibrary.com
Recorded at LA's Pulse Studios with producer Josh Abrahams, Pacifier is the album Shihad always threatened to make - a glorious, melodic, metallic rock'n'roll beast with its heart in its hands and its hair standing on end.
He'd remixed a couple of tracks from Shihad's second album of 1996, Killjoy, and like everyone who crosses their path, he was blown away.
The 12 songs on Pacifier are the cream of a huge cache of tunes accumulated over the past two years, from the road-tested "Trademark" and "Nothing" to LA-refined balltearers like "Everything", the result of several songs rammed together at Josh Abrahams' suggestion.

 Undertow Music
Bazan is working on a new EP to be released on-line this summer and a full-length studio album to be released by Jade Tree in the spring of 2007.
Bazan further honed his craft on the politically prophetic concept album "Winners Never Quit" (2000) and "Control" (2002), a morbid study of the relationship between infidelity and corporate culture, fueled by bombastic drum hooks and claustrophobic electric guitars.
The friends spent a solid month working on the album, and thanks to the close proximity and free availability of their gear, the home recording enthusiasts were able to create a record that feels both crafted and off-the-cuff.

Bruce Springsteen to Release "American Land" Version of The Seeger Sessions @ Blogcritics.org
"Churn" is the term used when a label re-releases an album to try and gouge music fans in to buying the silly thing a second time.
It's the exact same album only it is supposed to sound better (and sometimes it actually does).
The new popular trick is to re-release an album with two or three extra songs on it.

The Harry Chapin Archive at HarryChapin.com
The album features the original studio versions of Chapin classics "A Better Place to Be" and "Circle." But perhaps more importantly (as those songs are already well-distributed on compilation CDs), the album features seemingly lost Chapin stories, including "And the Baby Never Cries," "Burning Herself," "Barefoot Boy," and "Woman Child."
But for Chapin fans who have reached the level of the Dance Band on the Titanic album, this is the next step.
Slightly over-produced and having a little of the "forced" feel that some of Harry's studio albums possess, this album does not capture the powerfully live Harry Chapin.

The Decemberists are probably best known for frontman Colin Meloy's juiced-up literary screeds, which tend to feature obscure historical heroes and functionally obsolete three-syllable words.
Yes, the Decemberists are lovable and smart, an oddly charming ensemble of half-grinning, half-smirking underdogs who churn out loud, gloriously hook-ridden pop.
