Hunt, the president, is an experienced railroad man, having formerly been division superintendent of the Missouri Pacific railway at Winfield, Kans., in February, 1888, becoming general superintendent of the Ohio and Northwestern road, and becoming president and general manager for the existing company upon its organization.
The street-railway system of Cincinnati is exceptionally fine, rendering it possible to reach all points, including the distant suburbs and towns on the Kentucky side of the river, quickly and cheaply, five cents being the universal rate of fare.
On July 2, 1875, an ordinance was framed by the council of Cincinnati extending the route on Main to Evans, to Eighth, to Central avenue, to Sixth, to Walnut, to Fourth, to Elm, to Eighth, and returning to foot of Price-Hill incline.

 Middletown and Cincinnati Railroad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Middletown and Cincinnati Railroad, now defunct, was a shortline railroad of the southwest portion of the U.S. state of Ohio, running from Middletown, Butler County 14.23 miles southeast to Middletown Junction, Warren County.
The company's predecessor, the Middletown and Cincinnati Railway Company, was organized on February 28, 1890, by Middletown industrialist Paul Sorg and others who were dissatified with the service provided to Middletown by the Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railroad and the Cincinnati and Springfield Railroad.
Following the Pennsylvania Railroad's acquisition of the Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railroad in 1896, the CLandN on June 3, 1902 bought the MandC for $400,000 and merged it into the CLandN.

Geologic Relations.-Located geologically this area is on the northern slope of the Cincinnati uplift, a slight upward bulge of the otherwise horizontal rocks.
Its surface is 620 to 640 feet high in the southern part and rises to 660 feet at the northern edge of the area and still higher near the bluffs where it merges with the floors of tributary valleys.

The original erection of Columbia township occurred in 1791; Cincinnati and Miami townships were also formed at the same term of court, but as Columbia was assigned the letter A as its cattle brand, it may fairly be regarded as entitled to priority in order of formation.
Previous to that time the Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern railroad was used by its residents near the station on its line, and many also travelled to and from the city on the omnibus that ran between the city and Pleasant Ridge.
It is situated on the Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern railroad, partly in Columbia and partly in Sycamore township.

The Warren County Canal was a spur of the Miami and Erie Canal to Lebanon, the county seat of Warren County, Ohio.
Lebanon was forty-four feet (13 m) above the elevation of the Miami and Erie Canal at Middletown.
In the General Assembly, Representative Durbin Ward of Lebanon introduced legislation to abandon the "Lebanon Ditch." In 1854, the state sold the remnants for $40,000 to John W. Corwin and R.H. Henderson.

The Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railroad, now defunct, was an American railroad of southwestern Ohio built in the late 19th century that became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad system in the early 20th.
The railroad, severely undercapitalized, went into receivership on April 19, 1879, and was sold by the receiver on March 20, 1880.
The route from Dodds to Lebanon Junction was sold to trustees for bondholders, while the Cincinnati to Dodds route was reorganized on June 27, 1885 as the Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern (CLandN).

Frederick J. Lisman was a New York City-based banker and railroad financier who purchased the Detroit and Lima Northern and Ohio Southern Railroads in 1901 to form the Detroit Southern Railroad Company (the Iron Railway was added to the DS in 1902).
This section of railroad was once part of the Chicago and Canada Southern Railway, which, during the years 1871-1873 was constructed from Buffalo to a point in Canada opposite Grosse Isle in the Detroit River, and from Grosse Isle.
The D. and I. Railroad also purchased the telegraph line along its railroad from the Western Union Telegraph Company on June 15, 1923, after which the line was rebuilt with copper wires, and telephone train dispatching and telephone message communication were placed in service.

On the northwest corner were stables and a large shed where wagons, horses and cattle could be housed en route to the Cincinnati stockyards.
The first railroads went through the area when a narrow gauge railroad was built by the Miami Valley Railroad in 1874.

The Lebanon station is just behind the vantage point of this picture.

Once you get to the Warren County Historical Society Museum (It is next to the library) on the right side of the street you'll cross one more light and you'll see the railroad tracks of the Cincinnati Railroad Company.
The railroad markings that lead off to the Northwest across the river is the location of the Lebanon Countryside Trail and where the "railroad" crosses the river is the beautiful two span, overhead arch, bridge (see above).
The Miami 2 Miami Trail will run from where it connects with the Lebanon Countryside Trail to Hamilton connecting to the extended Great Miami River Recreation Trail that is being extended South from Dayton to Hamilton in stages.

The Cincinnati Railway Co. operates its tourist passenger services on more than 500 miles of track owned and dispatched by the Indiana & Ohio Railroad.
Company president Tom McOwen started it as a shortline freight railroad with several partners in 1979 and, over the years, acquired 10 railroad lines totaling 250 miles of track in Cincinnati, Springfield and Columbus.
Theme rides depart from Lebanon, and the day and private-car trips depart from the old Amtrak station on River Road, just west of downtown Cincinnati.
