  Mill Creek Township, Hamilton County, Ohio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mill Creek Township (or Millcreek Township) is a former township of south central Hamilton County, Ohio that was largely absorbed in the late Nineteenth Century by the annexation of suburban villages and outlying settlements by the City of Cincinnati.
The township's territory was encompassed within the Symmes Purchase, included the location of the original settlement of Cincinnati in 1787, as well as the core of Cincinnati's business district and many of its neighborhoods.
All territory in the Cincinnati city limits is considered to be in Millcreek Township though the township does not exist as a civil jurisdiction.

The Battle of Cedar Creek, or The Battle of Belle Grove, October 19, 1864, was one of the final, and most decisive, battles in the Valley Campaigns of 1864 during the American Civil War.

Future U.S. Senator Henry A. du Pont was awarded the Medal of Honor for his handling of an early retreat at Cedar Creek, contributing to Sheridan's ultimate victory.

The Mill Creek is a stream in southwest Ohio.
It flows 26 miles southwest and south from its headwaters in Union Township of Butler County through central Hamilton County and the heart of Cincinnati, Ohio into the Ohio River just west of downtown.
Then, for a time, the steep hillsides that surround it limited expansion, and gave impetus to the free growth of surrounding communities that were over that barrier.

GREEN TOWNSHIP is bounded on the north by Colerain, on the east by Mill Creek and Cincinnati, on the south by Delhi, and on the west by Miami.
The principal streams are Taylor's creek, which drains the northwestern part of the township and empties into the Great Miami; Muddy creek, which flows into the Ohio river and drains the southern part of the township; Lick run and several other affluents of Mill creek, which drain the eastern part of its area.

 Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. redeemed its scrip on time, and by the following year was doing well enough to pay its first divident, $9 per share.
Milling machines in production at the Cincinnati Milling Machine Co.'s Spring Grove Avenue plant in 1895.
 This complaint prompted a cooperative effort between the Mill's engineers and a local firm, Union Twist Drill Co., to develop the "high-power facemill."  The fruit of their labor was introduced in 1912.

They spent a day scavenging the banks of Mill Creek for trash and debris, helping to restore the natural beauty of what's been called one of Ohio's most threatened waterways.
University of Cincinnati alumnus Bernard J. Moller returned for his fourth year to help out with the Mill Creek cleanup.
This weekend, he used a special pole to retrieve plastic trash hanging from the trees lining the banks of the Mill Creek.

Limestone from the bluffs across the creek was used for both the foundation of the building and the eleven foot thick dam (now the west wall of "The Stone Room" on the main floor).
Reiling then sold it and it was operated by several different owners until the Dyas family bought the mill in 1931.
They are presently operating Potter's Mill as a Restaurant (2nd floor) and Bed and Breakfast (3rd and 4th floors).

Mill Creek Restoration Project (MCRP), the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, the City of Cincinnati and Paul Hemmer’s Sand Run Nursery and Preserve launched the Mill Creek Freedom Trees Program in November 2004, at a tree planting event and press conference on the banks of Mill Creek in Northside (Grove #1).
MCRP planted the second Mill Creek Freedom Trees site (Grove #2) in 2005, on the east side of Mill Creek, between the river and Interstate 75, and between Mitchell Avenue to the north and Clifton Avenue to the south.
Planting ten thousand trees along the banks of the Mill Creek is a beautiful tribute to the men, women, and children who walked here, and whose spirit and struggle are celebrated by the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

The South Mill Creek Greenway Trail will connect Salway Park to the Ohio River via a 5.5-mile greenway trail within the stream corridor of Mill Creek, providing extensive landscaping, protecting and restoring functioning wetlands within the channel, and improving water quality and riparian environmental conditions.
For example, the Cincinnati Park Board’s Urban Forestry department identified the lower stretch of South Mill Creek, in Lower Price Hill, to be a priority area for re-forestation as one of the results of their city-wide Tree Cover Study in 2000.
The South Mill Creek Greenway is a long-term project.

 Mill Creek study funded
On Monday, Sharonville and Evendale officials announced they were contributing $100,000 each to the Mill Creek Valley Conservancy District.
The Corps is slated to finish a $9 million study this spring on options for the Mill Creek, including an $800 million tunnel to contain overflow, said Sharonville Mayor Virgil G. Lovitt.
Sharonville officials blame the recent increase in flooding partly on burgeoning development in Butler County, which drains into the Mill Creek, and the flat terrain of the valley, where overflow tends to pool.
