 Cinderford - Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire
Cinderford is a small town with a population of approximately 7500, situated on the eastern edge of the actual Forest.
Cinderford is virtually surrounded by the woodlands of the Forest, which can be reached within a few minutes walking distance of anywhere in the town.
The rapid growth of Cinderford in the late 19th century led to the building of a second church, this time near the centre of the town.

Cinderford swimmers held an inter club sprint gala on Saturday at Heywood, with over 60 members taking part in an excited night of swimming.
An excellent weekend for Cinderford’s swimmers resulting in 17 place medals, among them gold medals for 12 year old Jack Hinchey in the 100m butterfly in a time of 1min 16.53 and for 11 year old Dean Embling in the 100m breaststroke in 1min 24.40.
Cinderford swimmers are pulling out all the stops at the moment and regularly performing at a very high standard, this weekend saw them at Tiverton in Devon competing in the third round of the Cotswold Series.

Whilst the project was basically feasible, attracting potential support from a wide range of funders and supported by the Cinderford Partnership, which at that time achieved an SRB award of Ł1m+ to regenerate the town, the difficulty was finding suitable premises in Cinderford.
One was sold to developers, another sold at auction just as we had nearly got the funding together to buy it, another asked too high a rent to be feasibly sustainable, another was demolished to be sold for housing development and the fifth destroyed by vandals.

The Cinderford Band was formed in 1879 and is proud to have given a service of music to the community in Cinderford and District for more than one hundred years.
Cinderford Band was invited to take part and despite the horrendous transport difficulties, travelled the breadth of the country to achieve a marvellous 4th place.
History was made in 1958 when the Cinderford Band became the first Forest of Dean Band to qualify for Championship status, by winning the National area contest second section at Bristol.

2002-2003 was a reasonably succesful season for Cinderford who finished third in SW Div 1.Nevertheless it was ultimately a disappointing year for the club who had aimed to bounce back into Nat Div 3 at the first attempt.
Nevertheless the team started their league campaign with a narrow home victory over perceived title rivals Reading and carried on winning until suffering what has to be seen as a shock home defeat at the hands of near neighbours Berry Hill.
The Cinderford side played a fifteen man game which enabled it to inflict very heavy defeats on sides such as Bridgewaterand Albion 12pts - 65 and Keynsham 71pts-8 but sometimes seemed to lack the will to impose themselves and were often content to do just enough.
