Its origin is often associated with the advent of lightweight cameras and transportable, synchronized sound recording devices, although this sort of technological determinism is somewhat controversial.
In Direct Cinema, the filmmaker aims to be a fly-on-the-wall capturing life as it unfolds, although such claims of non-intervention have been severely critized.

This film is a landmark in the Turkish cinema because, almost for the first time, a director tried to narrate a story while ridding himself of all that was theatrical, refusing all artifcial contrivances, asking his actors not to act in the theatre, and arriving at an original and personal statement.
By 1980s, the Turkish cinema was crystallized on the ambigious, incomprehensible and most authentic movies whose themes stressed on the internal contradictions or the conflicts with the social environment of the individuals sinking into their own problems.

World cinema - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
World cinema is a term used primarily in the West to refer to the films and film industries of non-English language speaking countries.
World cinema has an un-official implication of films with an "artistic value" as opposed to "Hollywood commercialism." Foreign films are often grouped with "Art House films" in DVD stores, cinema listings etc. Thus the title "World Cinema" has an inferred artistic prestige.
Of course, foreign films can be commercial, low brow or B-movies, so to automatically assume that World cinema is "arty" or intellectual is erroneous.
