Circle of Dust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Circle of Dust was a mid-1990s Christian heavy metal/industrial band created and run by Klayton (then known as Scott Albert) who is now famous for his solo band Celldweller.
Circle of Dust was popular in Christian circles during most of the 1990s, even though Klayton broke up the band in 1995.
Circle of Dust was criticized by some Christians for not having religious enough lyrics, while other Christians criticized the music for being too chaotic.

Circle of Dust formed from the ashes of Immortal, a Metallica influenced thrash band.
I actually had that version but wanedt this Circle of Dust version instead, as that is what it really is. I'm not sure why Scott Albert, or whatever he is calling himself these days, decided to release it under a different name.
This would be the last album released under the Circle of Dust moniker for a few years because of problems with defunct label R.E.X. Both these first two discs are out of print and sell for an average of $25 on ebay.

Circle of Dust is me and I wanted to be self indulgent — I 've spent so much time on other projects and wasn't getting a hell of a lot of recognition from them, partly due to my ‘anonymity fix,' although at the time I couldn't legally sign to any other label.
Circle of Dust is breaking up so come to see all our shows and spend lots of $ on our merchandise because it's the last time you can,' and then putting out more records and doing more tours anyway.
One thing Circle fans and critics probably got tired of was the fact that there wasn't a new full-length album every year and a half or so.

Circle of Dust is a one-man band that operates mainly out of New York.
Circle of Dust's (also called "COD") debut self-titled album was pretty much a musical failure.
Circle of Dust was disbanded in 1995, but Klay went on to make "Argyle Park", which was pretty much a COD clone.

Circle of Dust review by The Phantom Tollbooth
Sure, the genius behind Circle of Dust, Scott Albert, may have been a part of a number of other projects in one way or another (Brainchild, Argyle Park, Klank).
And true, the original Circle album was redone in 1995 with a few new songs, but on the whole, it would seem as if Circle of Dust was left in the dust for five years.
For someone's first taste of Circle of Dust, this will be a big hit, but for those of us who are already big Circle of Dust fans, this seems like a sad way to say goodbye to a "band" we have come to love.

Lycia: The Burning Circle And The Dust reviews
The Burning Circle and the Dust was originally released in 1995 as a double disc on Projeckt Records.
The Burning Circle and Then Dust is truly an album that has to be listened to from start to finish, its whimsical guitars and haunting atmospheric vocals combined with an early art rock use of synths craft a wave of songs that flow effortlessly and captivate you in doing so.
The Burning Circle and Then Dust finds the band at something of a transitory stage, shedding the darkness of past albums but not yet reaching the full moody ethereality that would define their next.

I finally put Circle to rest at the end of ‘95 and started writing ‘Angeldust' (Criss Angel & Circle of Dust) material with Criss.
Eventually, this issue became such a problem internally with Circle, that we agreed from that point on, there would be no more shows at any ‘Christian' venues or festivals etc. We turned down quite a few potential money-making gigs for that reason alone.

A Review by The Phantom Tollbooth   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Klay Scott has retired his original industrial music project Circle of Dust to work full time with the master of punk stage illusion and street magic, Criss Angel.
The songs show a variety of style that exceeds Circle of Dust’s repertoire: delving into angry anthems of rebellion that would leave Nine Inch Nail’s Trent Reznor crying in a corner and bared moments of delicate grief ("I know I’d die for youÂ…God, tell me why my friend is gone?").
Fans of Christian music may be interested in Angeldust because of its relationship to Circle of Dust, through which we watched the real-time process of Scott moving from faith to doubt to rage, although his vocals are secondary in Angeldust.
