Circular Quay is a locality in the City of Sydney, Australia, between Bennelong Point and The Rocks.
Circular Quay is a focal point for many community celebrations, for both its historic significance as the birthplace of the Australian nation, and for its proximity to the Sydney icons of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Circular Quay is also the home of Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art and the flagship City of Sydney Library in the historic Customs House.

Kirribilli is a harbourside suburb of Lower Northern Sydney (the Sydney Lower North Shore), Australia.
The wharf is one stop from Circular Quay and has two services per hour in each direction.
On the western side of the Bridge is Milsons Point Wharf, which carries many more services than the Kirribilli wharves and joins Kirribilli to the CBD, the inner harbour, and along the Parramatta River to Parramatta.

The south end of the V-shaped inlet at the point where Pitt Street and Alfred Street now meet silted up under the action of the tides, and hundreds of convicts labored for years to fill it in with stones and rubble and construct a horseshoe-shaped harbor wall known as the Circular Quay.

What angers people about the 45-m apartment building nearing completion on the eastern side of Sydney's Circular Quay is not so much what it looks like, but what it conceals.
Says Kel Hutchence, deputy chair of the Save East Circular Quay Committee, which demands the building's removal: "It's disgusting, an absolute miscarriage of so many things, that we have this ugly piece of architecture sticking up so near to probably the greatest building built this century." Well-attended rallies have supported his stand.
Since 1988, when the New South Wales state government ruled that East Circular Quay could be redeveloped, about a dozen different state and city government departments, planning committees and advisory boards have had a hand in the outcome.
