		Much to my liking Cirith Gorgor plays brutal yet melodic raw fl metal much in the style of ‘Thy Infernal.’ There are few bands out there that can play as brutal as these guys and remain interesting but that is exactly what Cirith Gorgor is doing.
		After Cirith Gorgor’s 2001 release ‘Unveiling the Essence’ the band was left without a record label, but fortunately Alex at Ketzer Records was rather quick to sign this talented and underrated band from Holland.
		It’s now been three years since their second album, and Cirith Gorgor is back with ‘Firestorm Apocalypse’ a massively brutal fl metal album that’s sure to rape the light of Christians once and for all.

	Caves & Passes of Middle-earth
		Cirith Gorgor was the pass between the Ash Mountains and the Mountains of Shadow at the northwestern corner of Mordor.
		From the west, the Pass of Cirith Ungol could be reached by climbing the Straight Stair and the Winding Stair on the northern side of the Morgul Vale and then going through the tunnel of Shelob's Lair.
		Cirith Ungol means "Pass of the Spider." The word cirith means "pass" from kir meaning "cut, cleave." The word ungol means "spider" from the Quenya ungwe meaning "gloom" and ungo meaning "cloud, dark shadow." Calling it the Pass of Cirith Ungol is actually redundant, but useful in order to distinguish the Pass from the Tower.

		Cirith Gorgor, initially named Dark Sorceress, was founded by the two guitarists Asmoday and Astaroth Daemonum in late 1993.
		A period of frequent rehearsals ensued and more songs were composed, which eventually led to the recording of Cirith Gorgor’s first demo "Mystic Legends…" (1997), produced in the band’s rehearsal place.
		The typical aggressive yet melodic Cirith Gorgor style was consolidated and the new album received good reactions.

		I’m sure not many of you remember a mid-80s thrash band called Cirith Ungol, but for those of you that do, I’m confident that it was the first thing you thought of upon seeing this band’s name.
		And the second thing you probably thought of was “Cirith Ungol was sub par on their best day, so I don’t put too much stock in Cirith Gorgor either.” Well, you wouldn’t be too far off the mark.
		Musically, these guys are about as original as their getup and their name, sounding like half a dozen other fl metal bands, with a raw, under-produced sound reminiscent of early Mayhem or Emperor and the legions of copy cat bands they inspired.

		:) Cirith Gorgor play a style of Black Metal that can be likened to such bands as Marduk (except in their later, more laid-back material) and Dark Funeral (a style that some people refer to as "norsecore", if that can help you…) What sets these guys apart is how much there is going on.
		Of course I'm not implying that the aforementioned bands can't play, but this is a style that quickly got saturated by some crappy bands trying to do the "in" thing - the point is that Cirith Gorgor isn't part of the lot of junk bands you need to avoid in this style, quite the contrary.
		The vocals are quite adequate for the style, the vocalist sticks to a proven formula and uses his "low shriek" (for lack of a better word) not unlike Marduk's throughout the album.

		After Frodo and Sam entered Mordor thru Cirith Gorgor, Sauron had fully ten days to contemplate the purpose of their mission into Mordor, and did not realize that their plan was to destroy the Ring until the last moment.
