Ciryaher, the son of King Ciryandil, was to become the last of Gondor's four Ship-kings.
Ciryaher's father was himself lost in an assault by the Haradrim, holding the defence of Umbar.
Ciryaher was a patient man, and slowly built his fleets and his armies in the north until he was sure of victory.

 TolkienWiki: Hyarmendacil__I
Given the name Ciryaher at birth, he suceeded to the throne after his father, Ciryandil, was slain during the Seige of Umbar, TA 1015.
Ciryaher spent the early years of his reign building up his power, until in TA 1050 he fell upon the Haradrim by sea and land defeating them utterly.
So great was Ciryaher's victory that the Kings of Harad acknowledged his lordship, and Ciryaher took the name Hyarmendacil which signifies 'South-victor'.

 THE TOLKIEN FORUM - Ciryaher
Ciryaher has both apologized for his recent remarks, acknowledged that his attitude was incorrect, and has promised to reform.
Ciryaher took offense to this, and sent a PM to HT saying something to the effect of 'and I find it a pity that Scandanavia was not oppressed by the Germans.' He also threw a few insults at Hurin Thalion.
Why was it that the member (aside from Hurin Thalion) who posted most against Ciryaher being a moderator was asked to be a moderator and then not told that Ciryaher would be back, but was left to discover it moments after she became a mod.

For many years Umbar was invested, but could not be taken because of the sea-power of Gondor.
Ciryaher son of Ciryandil bided his time, and at last when he had gathered strength he came down from the north by sea and by land, and crossing the River Harnen his armies utterly defeated the Men of the Harad, and their kings were compelled to acknowledge the overlordship of Gondor (1050).
Ciryaher then took the name of Hyarmendacil ‘South-victor’.

 Ciryaher - THE TOLKIEN FORUM
Ciryaher's primary passion on this site was for the role playing games, which has now been moved to a site of their own (Middle-earth RPG), and at which Ciryaher continues to serve as one of the sites 'Super Moderators.'
I'd like to thank Ciryaher for all the hard work he's put forth over the years, yes, years, in helping keep TTF running as smoothly as possible.
Thank-you Ciryaher for such a fine job as Mod during your time here.

Dol Amroth Yule, by Isabeau of Greenlea
Though I knew little of the goings on of Dol Amroth's navy, everyone knew that Prince Erchirion had been pursuing a particular Corsair vessel for the better part of a year.
She was not seaworthy, and it was doubtful that any other ship would be fast enough to catch the Corsair vessel.
"My lord prince, the Ancalime is at your disposal," Captain Ciryaher declared, "should you wish to command her in this venture." Erchirion smiled, for even though such an assumption of command was his right, no captain ever liked to give over his ship, and Ciryaher's offer had been both prompt and without reservation.
