MS PERPETUA: We are seeking to terminate the AWU Amalgamation Agreement for the City - the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters are seeking to terminate the Amalgamation Agreement.
All the relevant clauses that we felt were necessary to be transferred are in the current City of Norwood Payneham St Peters AWU Enterprise Agreement and we consent to the termination of the Amalgamation Agreement, sir.
The AWU have advised of its views about the issue and I'm satisfied that on the basis of the provisions of the current certified agreement applicable to the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters, that the termination of this certified agreement would not be contrary to the public interest.

The Norwood Football Club is "stunned" at the Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council's decision to refuse the club an extension of the Norwood Oval lease.
The Norwood Football Club has been in negotiations regarding the club's plans to redevelop the Sir Edwin Smith Pavilion since the beginning of 2002, during which the Council had offered clear and overt support to the club.
Norwood Football Club President John Rickus said the club was reeling at the Council's failure to follow through on support.

The Norwood Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1923 as the ‘Unley Orchestral Society’ by its first conductor, Norman Sellick, L.A.B., a prominent violin teacher in the Unley area.
The committee approached the Corporation of the City of Kensington and Norwood, who were very keen to have an orchestra based in their area.

MS PERPETUA: Commissioner, once again, as the former, we are seeking to terminate three separate amalgamation agreements which were formed back in November 1997 when the council amalgamated with the former Cities of Payneham St Peters and Kensington and Norwood.
On that basis I'm satisfied that the pre-requisites set out in section 170MH have been met on the basis that this is an employer application, the ASU have expressed their views relative to the application and the provisions of the three agreements sought to be terminated have been incorporated in the current certified agreement provisions.
I will terminate the three certified agreements, being the City of Kensington and Norwood Amalgamation Agreement 1997, the Town of St Peters Amalgamation Agreement 1997, and the City of Payneham Amalgamation Agreement 1997 with effect from today, the order reflecting that decision will be sent out to the parties within the next few days.

In the first case to be determined regarding a proposal to remove a significant tree where both parties presented professional evidence from consulting arborists, Norman Waterhouse successfully defended a decision of the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters to refuse the proposed removal.
In the decision of TLT Constructions Pty Ltd v City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters [2001] SAERDC 79 the Environment, Resources and Development Court considered a proposal to remove an English Elm which was 16 metres high, had a canopy spread of 12 metres and a trunk circumference of 3.25 metres.
This case highlights the importance of carefully examining and questioning any reports submitted by consulting arborists and ensuring that any ultimate decision in relation to a proposed tree damaging activity is made against the relevant provisions of the Development Plan.

On 20 July last year, when I had to notify the former minister of health in this place of his escape, I explained to parliament that Mr Ben Harvey was a paranoid schizophrenic with a history of violence.
After his arrest last Tuesday Mr Harvey was taken to the City Watchhouse and charged with breach of parole.
I understand that issue is being looked at and a formal recognition system in the form of a level skill allowance for experienced officers is being examined.
