The City of Winchester is a local government district in Hampshire with city status.
It covers an area of central Hampshire including the city of Winchester itself (see the Winchester article for the main description of the city), and neighbouring towns and villages including Alresford, Colden Common and Bishops Waltham.
The current city boundaries were set on April 1, 1974 when the City of Winchester merged with Droxford Rural District and part of Winchester Rural District.

Winchester (population 23,585) is a medical, industrial, commercial, and agricultural center located at the northern entrance of the Shenandoah Valley in northern Virginia.
Brownfields also impair implementation of the city’s “Green Circle” Plan for using a series of creek beds that encircle the city to form a linear park and pathway that interconnect and tie together the outlying city areas through its historic downtown by bike and walking paths.
The city is currently considering five sites for the Pilot: a former power substation, a former agricultural station that may be contaminated with herbicides and pesticides, and a former lumberyard that was converted into a knitting mill and may be contaminated with residuals from wood treatment and chemicals used in the yarn dying process.

Ralph Riggs, the then Mayor of Winchester, replied within half an hour that he could not open the city gates to Cromwell as the responsibility for yielding or resisting lay with Lord Ogle, who was the temporary military governor of the besieged city.
Winchester surrendered to Cromwell on Monday 6 October, although the garrison was very strong and the castle and city well supplied with food and other stores: the defenders could have held out under siege for weeks, but chose to capitulate before too much damage was done to the cathedral and other venerable buildings.

Winchester Bay was named for Heman Winchester of Winchester, Payne and Co. After the first road from Reedsport was completed in 1926, Winchester Bay became a popular camping and resort area.
In August 1850 the expedition of Winchester, Payne and Co. Of San Francisco entered the Umpqua River where they platted the townsites of Umpqua City, West Umpqua and Scottsburg.
