We went to war with the notion that Saddam had "weapons of mass destruction," a noble cause and at that point i supported the war.
Many wars start out with two sides not agreeing with something that they deem as essential or beneficial to their nationalism and whatnot.
Obviously and sadly, war gets lots of people killed, but the fact remains that often, one side simply runs out of options (usually, it is the other side that won't listen).

I think it would be preferable to have an Iraq with a government that wins the inevitable civil war against the remnants of the Baathists and their allies without significant aid from Iran.
We'll end this war by losing face, and since the reasons given were obviously bullshit (reasons given for war are often bullshit, but rarely so transparently), we were disunited from the moment it began.
So this war will also demoralize America, by convincing us that all justification for war is bullshit propaganda, and that we can't unite to fight one anyway.
