THE FIRE THIS TIME - ALBUM REVIEWS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
The album chronicles the horror of a war that saw U.S. and allied troops fly 114,000 sorties and drop 88,000 tons of bombs on the country.
The album movingly charts the downward spiral into war, the manipulation of news reports to the advantage of the west and the terrible consequences that ordinary Iraqi people suffered and still suffer to this day.
This album is clearly bound to become a favorite among pirate radio stations, aiming to educate their audiences about the Gulf War, and the timing of it could not be better as we face the possibility of renewed full scale war with Iraq.

 Monkeyfist.com: Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan
During the past three months of the so-called War on Terror (news - web sites), the mainstream media has avoided reporting on civilian casualties, and some prominent journalists have gone as far as to say that deaths of non-combatants are "not news".
When reporting on civilian casualties has been done, vague wording like "at least dozens" is used, reports are framed as Taliban propaganda, or dismissed as "not independently verified".
As for civilian casualties from bombings, any increase in discussion or analysis of these in the press, mainstream or otherwise, would surely be welcomed by those currently "shattered", military and civilian alike.

 Spectator, The: Civilian thoughts
Maybe it's one of the best albums of the year, or an encouraging advance on previous work, or a bold departure, or a crippling disappointment, or more of the same.
Civilians, by contrast, may still be listening to that album in 30 years, and may change their minds about it every time they play it.
The great album someone makes years after everyone has forgotten about him, and you suspect you're the only person who ever listens to it, and the injustice of it all stings you (J.J. Cale's Guitar Man, after the failure of which he announced his retirement).

 Progressive Ears Album Reviews
Before you read this review, be sure to see the review to Kansas' album prior to this one, Vinyl Confessions to get up to speed on the changes that occured in the band at the dawn of the 80's.
The remainder of the albums writing fell to singer John Elefante and his brother (who was not in the band), Dino.
Certainly this album did not fall neatly into the progressive category, but when it all comes down, good songs do not have to be progressive to be good!

 Gentle Giant [www.progweed.net]
Virtually all the albums from Acquiring the Taste through Playing the Fool are essential progressive rock releases (with the possible exception of Interview), standing as a testament to the bands ingenuity, talent and consistent reinvention.
This album is a great mixture of the rock and blues influences from the debut with a lot of progressive experimentation that would characterize the band later.
Another plus is that this album tends to stay away from the overt and often annoying overly complicated and dissonant portions from some of their later albums.

 TrouserPress.com :: Fad Gadget
The enigmatic Frank Tovey (formerly known as Fad Gadget) is a creative and unpredictable writer, singer and performer whose records all differ considerably from each other; he's an acquired taste with little consistency.
Except for the title track, which bounces along cheerfully, the basic mixture is dour vocals, heavy, repetitive bass lines, solid drums and odd noises.
Interestingly, rather than underscore the album's focus on (generally not dance-oriented) rhythm, the mix allows vocals and the scanty melody instruments a fair chance to compete.

It is really not progressive, at least not what we are used to (but i still say its more 80s pop).
Unfortunatly, after that, the album gets slow and very poppy for the time.
Even though this album is as it is, it is still Gentle Giant and still worth getting (esp. if it is cheap).

The objective of the Album des pavillons nationaux et marques distinctives, National Flags and Distinctive Markings is to show, with bilingual Franco-English captions, all the ensigns, flags and markings that a vessel might encounter at sea or in port.
The book is intended mainly for seafarers, who need to identify the nationality of a ship; whether it is civilian or military, and whether there is on board a Head of State, or other high ranking official, entitled to a salute.
Other then the national flags, the second part of the album (which is considerably smaller then the part A with national flags) shows some international flags that are of importance for seamen (I guess):
