  Clachaig Inn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The inn is sited towards the western end of the glen, about 3  km (2 miles) southeast of the modern Glencoe village, on the old road just to the north of the A82 trunk road.
It lies at the foot of Clachaig Gully, the first safe descent to the west of the Aonach Eagach ridge, and faces across the glen to the starkly vertical western shoulder of Bidean nam Bian.
Nowadays the Clachaig Inn has three bars with real beers (featured in the CAMRA guide) and a wide range of malt whiskies as well as coffee, snacks and meals, open all day from 11am (12.30pm on Sunday) till late every day throughout the year.

If you are staying at Clachaig Inn, the camping grounds or the youth hostel then go west along the side-road until a path departs the road about 250 metres past the youth hostel.

This Inn is set in arguably one of the most scenic areas in Scotland.

You could almost say that the ridge runs from the King's House hotel to the Clachaig Inn, but might give the wrong impression about hillwalkers/mountaineers!
There is much hype about about traversing the Aonach Eagach, about how hard it is and about how scary and to some extent these stories have a smattering of truth and merit.
Clachaig Gully has a habit of eating the unwary - people die trying this descent!!!

After I had bored of reading the papers I wandered down to the woods behind the Clachaig Inn.
I had a look at An Torr, I don't know what it is, so if anyone would care to enlighten me. I then wandered up to the signal rock, where the fire was lit to signify the start of the 1692 massacre.
Went back down to the Clachaig for tea, not that there was a pattern emerging by now.

We did get the odd glimpse of the hills to the North, but there was not a camera to be seen all day.
A good hour saw us down the steep path beside the Clachaig Gully to my car that I had earlier left to shuttle the drivers back up the glen.
Back in the hut and after what must be a first for me at a meet (a shower) saw the arrival of Ian Angel, Colwyn Jones and John Bickerdike, who had been over to have a look at Carnivore but decided that a walk up the Buachaille was just as good.
