Claire Kincaid was a fictional character on the television series Law and Order, played by Jill Hennessy from 1993 to 1996.
During Kincaid's tenure as Stone's assistant, it was revealed that she had a three-month affair with Judge Joel Thayer, for whom she clerked as her first job out of Harvard Law School.
In the 1996 episode "Aftershock," as Kincaid was considering leaving the DA's office, she was killed when her car was struck by a drunk driver as she drove an inebriated Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) home from a bar.

I was irate when they killed Claire Kincaid -- especially since the beauty of the show USED to be that you learned about the characters strictly in relationship to the crime.

But beyond that...anyone who wants to write this kind of a story and keep it on any sort of realistic plane (and I realize that's not a requirement for everyone) has to acknowledge that the characters of Claire Kincaid and Jack McCoy were just simply not meant to bond.
It was also fun to see what Claire's life was like during the scenes from "Name of the Game" -- her perspective gives more dimensionality to characters I'd only thus far portrayed as sympathetic.
I never thought I'd get past that first kiss scene outside Kincaid's apartment (I was literally removing my hands from the keyboard and muttering "No! No!" But then...it had to be done) and this is the first one of these I've done where Logan only makes a cameo appearance.
