A small brown bird, 16 to 17 cm in length, with fawn to pale rufous sides and under parts, the head crown is slightly raised or crested, particularly when singing.
Eggs are laid and hatched, young are reared and develop for the long flight north as cool weather approaches.

A sparrowhawk, 2 wood warblers and the long-staying goldfinch were in Mushrif Palace Gardens on 28th November, with 2 white-fronted geese, 2 Egyptian geese, a sparrowhawk, a curlew, 11 skylarks, a red-throated pipit, 35+ white wagtail, a bluethroat, 2 stonechats (not assigned to race)and 3 isabelline shrikes at the Health and Fitness Club.
A sparrowhawk, a song thrush, a citrine wagtail, a yellow wagtail, a red breasted flycatcher, 2 clamorous reed warblers, and a masked shrike were in Abu Dhabi’s Mushrif Palace Gardens, on 22nd November, with a squacco heron and 3 citrine wagtails at the nearby Health and Fitness Club.
Blackcaps and 2 Menetries’ warblers were also noted, as was a single starling, a somewhat scarce bird in the city in recent winters.

The Reed Warbler can be found almost exclusively in reedbeds during the breeding season.
The Reed Warbler lacks the broader tails and clearer eyestripes of Savi's and Cetti's Warblers and the impressive size of a Great Reed Warbler.
This leaves Marsh and Blyth's Reed Warbler which are exceptionally difficult to separate from Reed Warbler but far less likely to be seen in reedbeds.

Relatively large numbers of Yellow-vented Bulbul and Blackbird move along this ditch from their roosts in the Jordan valley to feeding places around the kibbutz, and in particular, we were hoping to catch these species.
Only a few birds were caught, but most remarkable was a Clamorous Reed Warbler with two white secondaries in its left wing and a Sedge Warbler.
Clamorous Reed Warblers were the most common species with no fewer than 22 birds trapped (including a nice dark morph), enabling us to learn about the aging of this species.

I refuted one claim years ago ("Willow Warbler;" Roberson and Pitelka 1983) but recently an actual Willow Warbler was found as a vagrant in Alaska.

Many locustella warblers were seen and heard 'reeling' in 'alfalfa' cultivation at Thumamah in April 93, some appearing to have distinct eye-stripes and a distinct chestnut colour, so Lanceolated Warbler (L. lanceolata) hasn't been ruled out.
An enigma for some time: Acrocephalus warblers were observed with short tails and long undertail-coverts, long dagger-like bills, a olive-brown plumage and sometimes having a facial streak vaguely reminiscent of Rufous Bushchat.
During Jan 93 I was fortunate to see and hear Clamorous Reed-Warbler in Zabeel FF and Saffa Park, Dubai and at Kosi Tappu, Nepal, and on returning to Riyadh was certain I could hear a singing bird at Thumamah DF and saw a similar bird on Dywidag compound.

This Wadi area is one of the prime localities for rocky desert species like Long-billed Pipit, Scrub Warbler and Plain Leaf Warbler.
A good locality for gulls and terns, but more famous for hosting wintering Indian Pond Herons, and breeding White-collared Kingfisher (the endemic kalbaensis form) and Syke's Warbler.

It looks to small in the hand to be a Great Reed Warbler and supercilium to pronounced for Thick Billed.
I wondered about Great Reed Warbler as well, but thought the supercillium too clear.
It arrived the same day as the Spectacled Warbler at Filey and no one really paid it much attention for that reason.
