  Clannad Concert Tour Program
Clannad, who derive their name from the Chlann As Dobber, a Gaelic speaking family from the Atlantic coastal village of Gaoth Dobhair, were then two brothers, Ciaran and Pol Brennan and their sister Máire and their twin uncles, Pádraig and Noel Duggan.
Clannad hailed from a corner of Ireland where an ancient and native culture had weathered the rigours of famine, emigration, religious and political persecution and often the harshest poverty, to persevere and flourish.
Clannad's music, forever characterised as ethereal, dreamlike, mystical and evocative could be seen to its roots and a rich lore of tradition and knowledge.

Clannad has their own flavor, but both groups are female-fronted bands (whose lead vocalists have also released solo albums) that do traditional songs, and their own songs in both Gaelic and English.

 CMT.com : Clannad : Biography
Clannad bridged the gap between traditional Celtic music and pop.
Taking their name from the Gaelic word for "family," Clannad formed in 1970 when the Brennan family -- Maire (vocals, harp), Ciaran (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards), Pol (guitar, percussion, flute, vocals) -- began playing at their father Leo's tavern with two of their uncles, Padraig Duggan (guitar, vocals, mandolin) and Noel Duggan (guitar, vocals).
Clannad's success continued in 1986, when U2's Bono was featured on the Top 20 hit "In a Lifetime." The band continued to release albums into the 1990s, building their pop following without losing their folk audience.

Seeing as how it's freaking hard to come by reliable Clannad info, I'm not too sure as to what is her function on the album; most, if not all, of the lead vocals are still sung by Maire, so I guess Enya is mainly there on background vocals and occasional percussion and keyboards.
