Clapham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clapham is a neighbourhood primarily in the London Borough of Lambeth, South London, England.
In the twentieth century, Clapham was seen as an unremarkable suburb, often cited as representing the ordinary people: the so-called "man on the Clapham omnibus".
Such is the density of "yummy mummies" in the area that it is popularly known as "Nappy Valley", a variation on Napa Valley, the Californian wine-growing region whose produce is presumed to be drunk in large quantities at residents' dinner parties.

Clapham Junction railway station - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clapham Junction has long laid claim to being the busiest railway station in the United Kingdom, and on 17 June 2005 changed its signage and claim to be the busiest in Europe.
The station was opened in 1863 as a joint venture of the London and South Western Railway, whose trains served the northern platforms, and the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway whose trains served the southern platforms.
Clapham, a mile to the east of the site, was a longer-established and entirely more fashionable village and so the railway companies - which sought to attract a middle and upper class clientele - decided to adopt the grander of the two names.
