At the time of the decompression, the chief flight attendant, Clarabelle "C.B." Lansing, was standing at seat row 5 collecting drink cups from passengers.
According to passengers' accounts, Lansing was ejected through a hole in the side of the airplane.
In 1996, the Lansing Memorial Garden was inaugurated at Honolulu International Airport's Interisland Terminal near the gates used by Aloha Airlines.

A few minutes into the flight, at 24,000 feet, the top forward section was ripped off and the head Flight Attendent, Clarabell Lansing, was pulled out of the plane.
Even though the pilots couldnt communicate with each other, or the remaining crew because of the wind and noise, they managed to safely land the plane.
The cause of the accident was debated, but the obvious fact of wear and tear on older planes was fairly obvious.

As many of you know, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has been working on a General Management Plan which will provide long-term management for the park, including South and North Manitou Islands.
The park held "gatherings" on June 11 in Lansing, (which Society Secretary Judy Fogle attended) June 12 in Traverse City, and June 13 in Empire, (which I attended.) The relatively few persons who attended viewed large wall hangings with descriptions of four alternatives for the future of the park.
They were June 11th in Lansing, June 12th in Traverse City, and June 13th in Empire.

On April 28th, 1988 an Aloha Airlines 737 roof from just behind the cockpit back to the wing blew off at 24,000 feet due to stress cracks in the fuselage.
The plane made a safe landing at Maui, and suffered one dead, Clarabell Lansing who was the chief flight attendant, and 65 injured.
