Davis, Haskins, Thomas, and Simon made one last record together under the name the Funkadelics (with a large disclaimer on the cover stating that George Clinton had nothing to do with the project) that bombed (as in stunk, not "da bomb").
Afterwards, Haskins went on to become a minister and release a gospel record (The Sound of Gospel, Westbound Records), while the other members faded into relative obscurity.

At 16 he joined fellow high schoolers George Clinton, Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins, Calvin Simon, and Grady Thomas to form the Parliaments.
As the seeds of talent were in place, the group was far from an overnight success.
In 1998 Ray began touring with original Parliaments Haskins and Thomas as The Original P. Davis left the group after being diagnosed with throat cancer, but it was respiratory problems that eventually claimed his life.

Basing his group on Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Clinton formed the Parliaments in 1955 with a lineup that gradually shifted to include Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins, Grady Thomas, Raymond Davis, and Calvin Simon.
Based out of a barbershop backroom where Clinton straightened hair, the Parliaments released only two singles during the next ten years, but frequent trips to Detroit during the mid-'60s -- where Clinton began working as a songwriter and producer -- eventually paid off their investment.

Anyway, Chris and I went to a Parliament/Funkadelic concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis (that place Prince made famous).
It wasn't a P-Funk All-Star show, but it had George Clinton, Ray Davis, Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins, Grady Thomas, and Calvin Simon.
George, Ray, Clarence, Grady, and Calvin would leave stage for twenty-minute breaks and the back-up band would stay onstage for what I though was the best part of the show.
